A system including one or more processors and one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing computing instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations: analyzing telematics data and device interaction data to determine vehicle driving instances in which a user interacts with a mobile device during a vehicle trip for a vehicle; and the device interaction data is generated when the user interacts with the mobile device during the vehicle trip for the vehicle; receiving positioning data associated with one or more positions of the mobile device within the vehicle during the vehicle trip for the vehicle; and identifying whether the user interacting with the mobile device is a driver of the vehicle based at least in part upon the positioning data and the vehicle driving instances. Method and system for determining which mobile device among multiple mobile devices is used by a vehicle driver. For example, the method includes receiving first telematics data and first device interaction data generated by a first mobile device, receiving second telematics data and second device interaction data generated by a second mobile device, analyzing the first telematics data and the first device interaction data to determine whether a first user is interacting with the first mobile device, analyzing the second telematics data and the second device interaction data to determine whether a second user is interacting with the second mobile device, determining whether the first user or the second user is the vehicle driver by using a classification technique, and calibrating the classification technique based on whether the first user or the second user has been determined to be the vehicle driver.

Systems and methods for transforming telematics data for agnostic use

A system for displaying contextually-sensitive braking information on a surface of a vehicle is presented. The system may include a transceiver, one or more memories, an electronic display disposed on the surface, and one or more processors. The one or more processors may be configured to detect a braking event of the vehicle, wherein the braking event has an associated braking force. The one or more processors may compare the braking force to a predetermined threshold braking force to determine whether the braking force exceeds the threshold braking force. The one or more processors may further cause the electronic display to display a braking indication having an intensity that is proportional to the braking force, wherein the braking indication may include a braking rationale corresponding to the braking event in response to determining that the braking force exceeds the threshold braking force.

For example, the method includes receiving telematics data and device interaction data generated by the mobile device during a vehicle trip, analyzing the telematics data and the device interaction data to determine driving instances in which the user interacts with the mobile device during the vehicle trip, determining whether the user of the mobile device is the driver of the vehicle during the vehicle trip based on the driving instances by using a classification technique, receiving positioning data associated with the mobile device within the vehicle during the vehicle trip, and validating the classification technique based on the positioning data and whether the user of the mobile device is determined to be the driver of the vehicle.
