A tissue repair assembly is disclosed, including a soft anchor body and at least a first suture operably coupled to the anchor body. Tensioning on first and/or second ends of first suture may deploy the anchor body to a second configuration, in which the anchor body is axially compressed and radially extended. The tissue repair assembly may also include a means to cinch around a portion of a first and/or second suture and knotlessly lock the tissue repair assembly. Some embodiments may include a pre-formed knot. In some embodiments, the preformed knot may be a nail knot, provided wrapped around an insertion instrument and configured to receive and cinch around a suture extending therethrough.

Soft anchoring tissue repair assembly and system

A system for improving graft harvesting including a blade guide () having a handle () and a guide portion with an elongate slot (). The system may also include a first blade assembly () that slides along the elongate slot (), the blade assembly () having a cutting blade () rotatably coupled to a handle (). The cutting blade () may include a leading cutting edge and a trailing cutting edge. The blade assembly () and blade guide () may cooperate to control a depth of blade penetration into a tissue, as the blade slides along the elongate slot (). The blade guide () may include means to stabilize the guide with the tissue.

Tendon harvesting system

Methods for measuring tissue defects include the use of a suture anchor, a drill guide, a needle driver, and a ruler. Using the drill guide, the surgeon extends the suture attached to an implanted anchor between the first and second ends of the defect. The surgeon then attaches a needle driver to the suture extending from the proximal end of the drill guide. Finally, the surgeon retracts the suture back through the drill guide and measures the distance between the needle driver and the proximal end of the drill guide to determine a length of a graft needed to repair the defect.

Methods for measuring tissue defects

Systems and methods of repairing tissue are disclosed. Systems and methods may repair an opening through a hip capsule. Systems and methods preferably repair the tissue while minimally encroaching on the tissue immediately behind the repair, such as the hip joint tissues. Some systems may repair the tissue with a suture passer having a needle that slides in axial alignment with the passer and includes a first recess for passing the suture in a first axial direction and a second recess for passing the suture in an opposing axial direction. Some systems may pass a portion of a repair construct in a retrograde direction, placing the repair construct in a preferred arrangement accommodating for the stresses on the tissue.

Hip capsule closure

A suture passing device has a curved, slotted shaft with a piercing end and an integral suture grasper, allowing the surgeon to pierce through a first tissue portion with the device and extend a looped portion of monofilament loaded within the shaft into the repair site. The shaft is then rotated so that the monofilament is allowed to fall out of the shaft through the slot. The surgeon then pierces a second tissue portion with the device and extends the suture grasper to capture the looped portion of monofilament. The monofilament is retrieved through the second tissue portion and a suture is passed through the looped portion of the monofilament. Finally, the flexible member is used to pull the suture through the tissue and the suture can be tensioned to close the hip capsule.

Suture passing device and methods of use thereof

Disclosed herein are apparatus, systems and methods for protecting a patient's groin area and better redistributing forces while distracting the patient's hip. These generally involve anatomically correct protective pad and/or a winged protective cup which be used in conjunction with one another or independently. The anatomically correct protective pad may include a groin-facing portion including a recess for housing/protecting a patient's genital region. The pad may further include opposing thigh-facing portions configured to align with the inner thighs of the and better distribute forces (e.g., distraction forces) away from the groin region and longitudinally across a surface area of the inner thighs. The winged protective cup may include a saddle or winged configuration including opposing wings extending from a cup portion and also configured to distribute forces away from the groin region and longitudinally across a surface area of the inner thighs.

Groin protection apparatus, systems and methods

Surgical drill guides having a guide shaft and a set of distal guide teeth extending from the guide shaft. The guide shaft has proximal and distal portions having two distinct inner and outer diameters, with a tapered zone extending between the two portions. Wall thickness is maintained or increased from the proximal portion to the distal portion of the shaft, reinforcing the rigidity of both the shaft and the distal guide teeth.

Surgical drill guides and systems

The present disclosure concerns a surgical instrument for manipulating suture. In particular, the present disclosure relates to an instrument for passing suture through tissue. There is described a surgical instrument having a shaft and a handle connected to the proximal end of the shaft. The shaft is formed from a tubular member having a proximal end and a distal end, with a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends, and a tip distal to the tubular member. The shaft also includes a distal portion having an opening in a sidewall, proximal to the tip. The opening is in communication with the lumen through a side channel. The instrument further includes a suture snare, the snare being slidably receivable within the lumen and side channel, and movable between extended and retracted positions for capturing suture.

Suture passer

Examples of a suture anchor () having a non-expandable body () and expendable cap () are described herein. In response to an axial insertion force that brings the non-expandable body and expendable cap together inside a bone hole, the expendable cap expands radially. This creates a radial force of expansion that advantageously augments an interference fit between the suture anchor and bone hole, which leads to higher fixation strength. Other examples include retention features that inhibit the expendable cap from returning back into its unexpanded state. This advantageously maintains the radial force of expansion against the surrounding pressure of the walls of the bone hole pressing back on the suture.

Distal tip two piece external expansion anchor

A one-piece knotless suture anchor with a breakaway distal tip is disclosed. The suture anchor includes a thin section connecting a distal anchor portion and proximal anchor portion. The thin section has a cutaway geometry allowing it to break in a repeatable manner. Force from a driver breaks the thin section connecting the distal and proximal anchor portions. The proximal anchor portion slides distally over the elongated member (either distal or proximal to the distal eyelet) and a repair suture is pinched between the distal and proximal anchor portions, or in between the bone tunnel walls and outer diameter of the sleeve, thereby fixing the repair suture in place without tying an arthroscopic knot.

Knotless suture anchor with breakaway tip

Examples of a suture anchor having a small diameter and having a soft suture bridge or suture eyelet are described herein. The soft suture bridge/suture eyelet allows a repair suture to slide, which is desirable when tying knots. In some cases, the soft suture bridge/suture eyelet itself is made from a length of suture.
