A self-service terminal () is described. The terminal () may be an ATM, and has a user interface () comprising a synthetic character (). The terminal () is coupled to a database () that includes information about users of the terminal (). The terminal () is operable to present an adapted character to a user, where one or more aspects of the character () have been adapted to reflect changes in the user. A method of interacting with a user at a self-service terminal, and a self-service terminal system () are also described.

Self-service terminal

An image forming apparatus uses a plurality of image forming units that are arranged rotatable in a vertical plane such that the image forming units that shifted sequentially to an image forming position. Each image forming unit has a translucent toner detection window on its outer periphery for detecting the remaining amount of toner in a toner hopper. The image forming units will have a replacing position in which it will face an opening for allowing replacement of the image forming unit. The translucent detection window will face the opening when the image forming unit is in the replacing position.

Machine for dispensing media

A terminal in the form of an automated teller machine (ATM) comprises a base unit,with additional add-on modules. These include a depository/dispenser,, a statement printer,and secondary dispenser unit,. The base unit has a card reader,, keypad,and display,to allow cash to be dispensed. The add-on units are attached to the base unit which base unit provides environmental control as well as a processor control and power sourcing.
