Particle analyzers having scintillation counters are provided. Particle analyzers of interest include a flow cell for transporting particles in a flow stream, a light source for irradiating a particle in the flow stream at an interrogation point, a particle-modulated light detector for detecting light from the interrogation point, and a scintillation counter for assessing particle radioactivity. In embodiments, the scintillation counter is positioned within the flow cell and configured generate particle radioactivity data that may be associated with a given particle in a plurality of particles. Methods and non-transitory computer readable storage media for practicing the invention are also provided.

Aspects of the present disclosure include methods for adjusting sensitivity of a photodiode in a light detection system. Methods according to certain embodiments include detecting light with a light detection system having a photodiode and an amplifier, determining responsivity of the photodiode over a plurality of wavelengths of light and adjusting one or more parameters of the amplifier in response to the responsivity of the photodiode over the plurality of wavelengths of light. Disclosed herein are methods for producing high density cellular arrays. In some embodiments, the methods comprise: providing a sample comprising a plurality of cells; and introducing the plurality of cells in the sample into microwells of a microwell array to produce a cellular array, wherein the microwell array comprises 500 or more microwells per inch, and wherein 25% or more of the microwells of the cellular array comprise a single cell. The disclosed methods can be used for producing a high density synthetic particle array and a high density reagent array.

Provided herein are improved multi-way cell sorter systems and methods. For example, provided are systems and methods for the collection of cells that are sorted in multiple directions. The systems and methods allow for the construction of a multi-way sorter (e.g., a ten-way sorter in the space that currently only allows four-way sorting). In addition the device may actively sense the arrival of drops (with cells of interest) at a sample tube, and trigger an alarm when the drops' arrivals deviate from an expected pattern.
