A printable overlaminate for attachment to a substrate permits application of decorative and/or informative printing on materials that normally are not receptive to ordinary inks. The overlaminate has a release liner releasably attached to a protective layer. On the protective layer is an ink acceptable adhesive, the exposed surface of which receives ordinary ink. After printing the ink acceptable layer is transferred to a substrate through the use of heat and pressure. Then the release liner is removed, leaving the ink visible through the protective layer.

A thermal laminating film is provided that has superior intrusion resistance that is well suited to addressing security and anti-counterfeiting needs. The film includes a polymer substrate and an adhesive system with a polymer component having a Vicat softening point temperature that is close to a glass transition temperature of the polymeric substrate, which typically is not greater than about 95&#xb0; C.

Intrusion resistant thermal laminating film

Tough decorative printable film products having holographic-type images are provided that are low in cost. These film products include a relatively high temperature film that is made by continuous extrusion of the film resin onto a master film having pre-etched holographic-type imaging in order to provide a high-temperature primary film with conforming holographic imaging. This primary film provides a tough holographic-type image that is readily secured to any number of products to impart a holographic character to them. For example, this primary film is suitable for use on the surface of recreational sportsboards. When desired, sublimation printing can be used to impart indicia, text, images and colors, alone or in combination, to the primary film.
