A torque converter centering sleeve assembly is disclosed herein that includes an anti-contamination plate. The assembly includes a centering sleeve including a body. A plate, i.e. an anti-contamination plate, is arranged inside of the centering sleeve. The plate includes at least a first portion and a second portion in contact with an inner surface of the centering sleeve such that the plate partitions off a pocket defined by the centering sleeve. The plate can be secured to the centering sleeve via a snap fit or press fit.

An electric motor includes a stator, a rotor and a rotor carrier radially inside of the rotor non-rotatably fixed to the rotor. The rotor carrier includes an axially extending cylindrical section including an outer circumferential surface having an annular groove formed therein. A method of forming a rotor carrier includes forming, by stamping, a rotor carrier including an axially extending cylindrical section including an outer circumferential surface having annular groove formed therein.

A planetary carrier assembly is provided having a main planet carrier body and a stamped planetary spider formed from a planetary spider blank made of sheet or plate material. The planetary spider has a central portion that extends in a plane perpendicular to an axis of the main planet carrier body, and at least two flanges that extend integrally from the central portion in a direction parallel to the axis toward the main planet carrier body that form spider connection legs. The at least two flanges further include integrally connected distal balance portions that extend from ends of the spider connection legs and are folded back toward respective inner surfaces thereof. The ends of the spider connection legs are fastened to the main planet carrier body and the balance portions are configured for mass removal as part of a dynamic balancing of the planetary carrier assembly.

A camshaft phaser is provided that includes a stator, a rotor having a plurality of vanes that form fluid chambers with the stator, and a timing wheel attached to the rotor via a spline joint arranged between the rotor and timing wheel. The spline joint is configured to prevent axial and radial movement of the timing wheel relative to the rotor.

A turbine assembly for a torque converter is provided. The turbine assembly includes a turbine including a plurality of holes and a thrust washer connected to the turbine. The thrust washer includes a bearing ring, at least one retaining post axially protruding from the bearing ring through at least one of the holes and at least one support post axially protruding from the bearing ring through at least one of the holes. The or each retaining post includes an outwardly radially protruding clip securing the thrust washer onto the turbine. A method for forming a turbine assembly is also provided.

A fastener positioning device for a die block including a punch tube arranged to receive the fastener, at least one aperture extending radially out from the tube, at least one displaceable retainer disposed in the at least one aperture, and a resilient ring urging the at least one retainer towards an axis of the punch tube. In an example embodiment of the invention, the aperture includes a first diameter proximate the punch tube and a second, larger diameter radially outside of the first diameter. The retainer may be a ball, the resilient ring may be an O-ring, and the fastener may be a stud or nut.

A method of forming a torsional vibration damping disk, including the steps of: stamping a concave surface at a periphery of a disk; heat treating the stamped disk; placing at least one forming element at least partially in contact with at least a portion of the concave surface; and curling the periphery to partially surround the at least one forming element so that the at least one forming element is removable from the disk. In a second embodiment, the method includes the step of removing the at least one forming element after curling the periphery and includes the step of replacing the at least one forming element with at least one spring element.
