An embodiment provides a method, including: providing a multi-protocol connector in an electronic device for connecting at least one storage device thereto; determining, using an operative coupling between the multi-protocol connector and the electronic device, if the electronic device supports one or more protocols of the multi-protocol connector; and providing an informational prompt for each determined protocol of the multi-protocol connector that the electronic device supports. Detection and identifcation of supported connection protocols in a multi-purpose storage bay

A computing system can include a computing system chassis that includes a front end and a back end; a drive that includes a side that includes a mounting feature; and a drive bay chassis operatively coupled to the computing system chassis where the drive bay chassis includes at least one drive bay accessible via the front end of the computing system chassis, a bracket and a latch operatively coupled to the bracket and disposed between the front end and the back end of the computing system chassis where the bracket moves responsive to contact with the side of the drive during translation of the drive into one of the at least one drive bay to engage the bracket and the mounting feature and wherein the latch is movable to disengage the bracket and the mounting feature for translation of the drive out of the at least one drive bay.

Component retention mechanism

A system can include a base that includes a bracket; a board releasably coupled to the base where the board includes at least one processor; and a stop pivotably coupled to the bracket where the stop includes a pivoted orientation that forms a first clearance between the stop and the board that permits movement of the board with respect to the base by a release distance and a stop orientation that limits movement of the board with respect to the base to a distance less than the release distance. An embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, from a temperature sensor disposed within an electronic device, temperature input relative to a first heat generating component; the first heat generating component being upstream of a cooling element of the electronic device; receiving, from a temperature sensor disposed within an electronic device, temperature input relative to a second heat generating component; the second heat generating component being downstream of the cooling element; and controlling the cooling element to cool the first and second heat generating components based on both the temperature input relative to the first heat generating component and the temperature input relative to the second heat generating component. Closed-loop control and monitoring in cooling electronic components

A drive cage can include a base side and a top side that define altitude of the drive cage; a front end and a back end that define longitude of the drive cage; a lateral side disposed between the front end and the back end and between the base side and the top side; drive bays where each drive bay extends longitudinally; a first wire bundle clip fixed to the top side that extends longitudinally to a free end; and a second wire bundle clip fixed to the lateral side that extends altitudinally to a free end. Such an example may further include a wire bundle clipped to the drive cage via the first wire bundle clip and the second wire bundle clip. Drive tray

A system can include a chassis that includes a keeper; a board coupled to the chassis where the board includes a power receipt connector and at least one processor electrically coupled to the power receipt connector; a power supply unit that includes a power supply connector; and a pivotable member coupled to the power supply unit where the pivotable member includes a handle portion and a latch portion that, in a latched orientation, engages the keeper and secures the power supply connector to the power receipt connector. Computer power supply assembly

A monitor stand assembly includes a base, an arm that includes a monitor joint configured for pivotable attachment to a monitor and a base joint configured for pivotable attachment to the base, and an adjustable force strut. Such a strut may include a strut housing, a strut rod, an adjustment mechanism for adjusting force exerted by the rod with respect to the housing, an arm joint configured for pivotable attachment to the arm and a base joint configured for pivotable attachment to the base. Monitor stand assembly

Computer baffle

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for providing customized thermal control data structures. The default thermal control data structure is typically stored in a first storage device of the IOS module of the information processing system. A custom thermal control data structure is stored on a second storage device that is separately updatable from the first storage device. The thermal cooling module that provides cooling for the information processing system is directed to use the custom thermal control data structure for cooling components of the information processing system.

Separate customizable thermal control table

An exemplary drive tray includes parallel side members; at least one end member connected to the parallel side members where the members collectively form a resilient, substantially rectangular frame for receipt of a drive body; and a pair of parallel side walls extending in a direction normal to a plane defined by the frame where the pair of parallel side walls include engagement features to engage opposing sides of a drive body. Apparatus, methods, and systems are disclosed for a power supply adapted to receive power from an outlet, the power input having a property, such as amperage, frequency or voltage. An indicator is provided on the connector to the power cord to indicate a value for the property to the power supply, wherein the power supply adapts to the value for the property. By providing an indication of the property the system is capable of reducing functionality to meet the capabilities of the power supply. A power cord may be provided with a male plug at one end capable of being inserted into a socket with a minimum value for a property, and the other end of the power cord may have a connector with an indicator to identify the minimum value for the power cord.
