The present invention generally relates to a method for separating solids from liquid in a slurry comprising solids and a liquid (e.g., an aqueous solution). More specifically, the method comprises contacting an effective amount of a high molecular weight polymeric flocculant with the slurry in a tanker truck or as the slurry is flowing to the truck, allowing the solids to settle during a settling time whereby the solids settle to the bottom of the tanker truck, and the liquid is removed from the tanker truck at a level above the settled solids. The high molecular weight polymeric flocculant can comprise repeat units derived from a cationic monomer, an anionic monomer, a nonionic monomer, or a combination thereof.

Use of polyelectrolytes for the remediation of solids from oil field separation

The present invention generally relates to methods for removing an organic deposit or for inhibiting deposition of deposit-forming comprising contacting a cleaning composition or an anti-coking composition with a surface. The surface can have an organic deposit or be susceptible to forming an organic deposit and the surface can be in contact with a liquid containing organics. The liquid can be produced from a thermal recovery system, and the surface can be an internal surface of a piece of steam-generating or vapor-generating equipment.

Metal silicate and organic deposit inhibitor/dispersant for thermal recovery operations of hydrocarbon fuels

This disclosure relates to systems, methods, and devices useful for monitoring and controlling water to be used, for example, in oil and natural gas production and hydraulic fracturing processes. An on-line unit for measuring, controlling, and optimizing the quality of water being used during the hydrocarbon production or hydraulic fracturing processes is also disclosed. Optimizing and controlling can include measuring one or more properties associated with the production water to be sure that the one or more properties are within an acceptable range and, if the one or more properties are not within the acceptable range for each respective property being measured, causing a change in flow of one or more water sources and/or one or more chemicals.

This disclosure relates to systems, methods, and devices useful for monitoring and controlling water that has been used in, for example, oil and natural gas production, recovery, or hydraulic fracturing processes. Monitoring produced water

Disclosed and claimed is a novel protective coating for metal surfaces. The protective coating includes one part by weight of the organosilane-modified silica nanoparticles made by the disclosed process and further includes from 0.3 to 3 parts by weight of the reaction product of (1) a compound comprising a polyamine in which a plurality of amine groups are bonded to at least one radical selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon and hydrocarbon ether groups that separate nitrogen atoms of said amine groups by at least four intermediate atoms in a chain, and (2) a silane which carries a plurality of silicon-bonded hydrolyzable groups and a silicon-bonded organic group that is covalently reactive to and which bonds with said amine group, said silane also comprising hydrolyzable groups, to provide a reaction product molecule which comprises an average of 2.5 to 3.5 silane groups per molecule.

Organically modified silica and use thereof

Organosilane-modified nanoparticles of silica, having a particle size of no more than 1 micron, in which the organosilane resides throughout the entire volume of the nanoparticles and not just at the surfaces of the nanoparticle. The nanoparticles may be in a colloidal solution. They may be prepared by hydrolyzing an alkali silicate under acidic conditions to obtain a silicic acid dispersion, followed by adding an organosilane having hydroxyl and/or hydrolyzable groups to the dispersion under acid conditions; and then raising the pH of the dispersion to at least eight to form the nanoparticles. They may be used in an effective paint primer/protective coating formulation.
