A method of calibrating an outflow valve on an aircraft may include determining if the aircraft has reached a predetermined cruise condition. The outflow valve may be moved until a closed position is reached, if the aircraft has reached the predetermined cruise condition. An actual position feedback value of the outflow valve may be determined while the aircraft is in the predetermined cruise condition. An offset calibration factor may be determined from the actual position feedback value of the outflow valve relative to a theoretical value.

A valve for use in a cabin pressure control system includes a valve body and a poppet. The valve body includes an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid flow passage therebetween. The poppet is disposed in the valve body. The poppet is moveable between at least a closed position, in which the poppet at least substantially restricts fluid from flowing through the fluid flow passage, and an open position, in which fluid is allowed to flow through the fluid flow passage. The valve body, the poppet, or both, have a fluorocarbon coating.

Poppet valve for cabin pressure control systems

An aircraft cabin pressure control system implements control logic that significantly reduces potentially uncomfortable pressure bumps that can occur during aircraft take-off rotation both with and without cabin pressuring fluid flowing into the aircraft cabin. The control logic implemented by the cabin pressure control system, among other things, determines whether the cabin pressurizing fluid is flowing into the aircraft cabin. If the cabin pressurizing fluid is flowing into the aircraft cabin, aircraft cabin altitude is controlled to at least a first predetermined minimum altitude value below the take-off altitude. If the cabin pressurizing fluid is not flowing into the aircraft cabin, aircraft cabin altitude is controlled to at least a second predetermined minimum altitude value above the take-off altitude.

Cabin pressure control system and method that accommodates aircraft take-off with and without a cabin pressurization source

An aircraft cabin pressure outflow control valve that includes a rotationally mounted valve gate and one or more flow influencing walls adjacent to or part of to the valve body. Each wall has a distal edge formed at a wall angle relative to one of the valve flow ports, and an inner surface that surrounds the valve gate when the valve is at or near it closed position. With this configuration, the effective flow area of the flow port varies substantially non-linearly over a range of valve positions.

An aircraft cabin pressure control system valve integrates three cabin pressure control functions, main cabin flow control, positive pressure relief, and negative pressure relief, into a single valve package. The valve includes a control valve that is used for main cabin flow control, for primary positive pressure relief, and primary negative pressure relief. The valve can also include a positive pressure relief valve and a negative pressure relief valve, which are used for backup positive pressure relief and negative pressure relief, respectively. An actuator for the valve is also provided.
