A silicone release coating composition and method for its preparation and use are described. A release coating prepared by curing the silicone release coating composition has high immediate release force (>50 g/in). A release liner including the release coating is suitable for use as a transfer liner in processes for making composites articles, such as aircraft parts.

A polydiorganosiloxane having both a silicon bonded aliphatically unsaturated group and a silicon bonded poly(meth)acrylate polymer or copolymer is useful in a polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive composition that cures to form a polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive. The polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive composition can be wet-cast or dry-cast on a substrate and cured to form a polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive article. An adhesive article including the polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive is also disclosed.

Polyorganosiloxane hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive and methods for the preparation and use thereof

A polydiorganosiloxane having both a silicon bonded aliphatically unsaturated group and a silicon bonded poly(meth)acrylate polymer or copolymer, and method for preparation of this polydiorganosiloxane are disclosed. The method preserves the aliphatically unsaturated groups when grafting the poly(meth)acrylate to the polydiorganosiloxane. This polydiorganosiloxane is useful in hydrosilylation reaction curable compositions, such as pressure sensitive adhesive compositions.

Polyorganosiloxane having poly(meth)acrylate groups and methods for the preparation and use thereof

A composition contains a polyorganosiloxane dispersed in a combination of a condensation product of a polysiloxane resin and a polyoxyalkylene polymer, and a non-aqueous fluid carrier; wherein the weight-ratio of non-aqueous fluid carrier to condensation product is 0.5 or more and 10 or less; the weight-ratio of the combination of condensation product and non-aqueous fluid carrier to polyorganosiloxane is 0.01 or more and 0.50 or less; and wherein the composition contains less than one weight-part aromatic solvent per million weight parts composition.

The invention provides a process for the production of a pressure sensitive adhesive, comprising dissolving a particulate solid MQ silicone resin having a bulk density in the range 0.4-0.9 g/cmin a volatile solvent, and dissolving a polydiorganosiloxane having a viscosity of 0.1 to 40,000 Pa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C. in the volatile solvent before, simultaneously with or after dissolving the solid MQ silicone resin. The process of the present invention allows the production of a pressure sensitive adhesive in a solvent different from the solvent in which the MQ silicone resin was prepared.

A release-modifier composition comprises a capped polydiorganosiloxane-(MQ resin) copolymer, which comprises a macromolecule having an MQ resin portion covalently bonded to a polydiorganosiloxane portion. Organosiloxane compositions and coatings, manufactured articles, methods and uses

A composite article includes a substrate and a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) disposed on the substrate. The PSA includes a polymer formed from at least one radical curable organic compound polymerized in the presence of an organoborane initiator. The polymer has a polydispersity index of less than or equal to 5.0 and a temperature of softening less than a temperature of use. The composite article is formed by a method including the steps of polymerizing the at least one radical curable organic compound to form the polymer and applying the PSA to the substrate to form the composite article. The polymer is formed by a method including the steps of combining the at least one radical curable organic compound and the organoborane initiator and polymerizing the at least one radical curable organic compound.

A silicone acrylate hybrid composition includes the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and an initiator. The silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition includes acrylate or methacrylate functionality. A method of making the hybrid composition includes polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer and the silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition in the presence of the initiator.

This invention provides a single phase silicone acrylate formulation that resists phase separation and includes (A) at least one of a silicone, an acrylate, and combinations thereof. The single phase silicone acrylate formulation also includes (B) a silicone acrylate hybrid compatibilizing agent including silicone functionality and (meth)acrylate functionality and that is the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, a (meth)acrylate, and an initiator.
