A stringed instrument, such as a semi-acoustic electric guitar, can employ a resonance system that consists of a body having at least one internal cavity accessed by a soundhole continuously extending from a top cover. The soundhole may have a continuously curvilinear transition from the top cover and a length corresponding with an altered resonance frequency of the instrument body.

Stringed instrument resonance system

A musical instrument includes a softwood core and an opening formed in the softwood core. The softwood core is formed by combining a plurality of softwood boards. A hardwood plug is disposed in the opening of the softwood core. A first hardwood plate is disposed over a first surface of the softwood core. A second hardwood plate is disposed over a second surface of the softwood core. The hardwood plug extends from the first hardwood plate to the second hardwood plate. The softwood core, first hardwood plate, and second hardwood plate are cut into an instrument body. An instrument neck is attached to the instrument body. A bridge is attached to the hardwood plug using a screw or other fastener extending through the bridge and into the hardwood plug. An opening is formed through the hardwood plug. A string is disposed through the opening of the hardwood plug.

Lightweight body construction for stringed musical instruments

A stringed instrument pickup with multiple selectable coils can be utilized in a system to provide a diverse range of sound characteristics from at least one moving string under tension. A first wire can be connected to a first terminal of a first bobbin body prior to the first wire being wound around the first bobbin body a first number of times and then connecting the first wire to a second terminal of the first bobbin body. A second wire may be connected to the second terminal of the first bobbin body before winding the second wire around the first bobbin body a second number of times and then connecting the second wire to a third terminal of the first bobbin body. The first bobbin body is subsequently mounted onto a stringed instrument.

Multiple coil pickup system

A stringed instrument pickup with multiple selectable coils has at least a bobbin body supporting at least one pole piece, a first coil, and a second coil. The first coil may continuously extend between a first terminal of the bobbin body and a second terminal of the bobbin body while the second coil continuously extends from the second terminal to a third terminal of the bobbin body.

A humbucking pickup for a musical instrument has a bobbin assembly with first and second bobbins. The musical instrument can be an electric guitar. A first coil is wound around the first bobbin, and a second coil is wound around the second bobbin. A permanent magnet or a plurality of permanent magnets extend through the first coil and second coil of the bobbin assembly. A housing is disposed over the bobbin assembly. Blades are disposed over side surfaces of the housing to redirect the magnetic flux toward the strings. A plurality of strings of the musical instrument is routed over a top surface of the housing parallel to opposing poles of the permanent magnet. Movement of the strings of the musical instrument disturbs a magnetic flux of the permanent magnet proximate to a first pole of the permanent magnet and a second pole of the permanent magnet.

A headblock and fingerboard support assembly for a stringed instrument includes a fingerboard support assembly for mounting to a neck and fingerboard of the stringed instrument. The fingerboard support assembly further includes a plate having an integrated rail structure. A headblock has an integrated channel for receiving the integrated rail structure. The headblock is adapted to secure to the fingerboard support assembly. A method of assembling a stringed instrument includes mounting a plate structure to a neck and fingerboard of the stringed instrument, where the plate includes an integrated rail, and mounting a headblock to an interior surface of a body of the stringed instrument, where the headblock has an integrated channel structure for receiving the integrated rail of the plate structure.

Headblock and fingerboard support

A support for a body of a stringed instrument includes a brace structure having a plurality of legs radially disposed about a central body. The brace structure has a substantially flat first surface. A portion of the plurality of legs conforms to a soundhole opening which is integrated into the body of the stringed instrument. A brace for a body of a guitar includes a unitary structure adapted to mount to a soundboard of the guitar. The unitary structure has a plurality of arms radially disposed about a central body. A method of assembling a guitar includes mounting a brace structure to a soundboard of the guitar. Again, the brace structure has a plurality of legs radially disposed about a central body.
