Embodiments are disclosed for a tool-less clamping apparatus for a reciprocating tool having a reciprocating spindle having a center axis and at least one radially oriented aperture and a receiving slot at its forward end for receiving a tool accessory, the apparatus having an unclamped position and a clamped position, and comprising a hollow generally cylindrical sleeve secured to the spindle, a hollow generally cylindrical collar configured to fit on the sleeve and being rotatable relative to the spindle and the sleeve, the collar having an inner cam surface that increases in radius from the axis through a first predetermined circumferential arc in a first direction, a spring operatively connected to provide a biasing force to the collar toward its clamped position, and a detent pin positioned in the spindle aperture and configured to engage a hole in the tool accessory and thereby firmly hold the tool accessory in the apparatus when urged into contact with the tool accessory.

A chuck jaw that is configured and arranged to be used in combination with other chuck jaws for securely retaining a rotatable accessory, such as a drill bit, in position in a chuck assembly, where the chuck jaw includes a chuck jaw body that defines a generally longitudinal axis along the primary extension direction thereof and a chuck jaw tip that is positioned within the chuck jaw body and extends along at least a portion of the generally longitudinal axis of the chuck jaw body. The chuck jaw further includes an insulating material for preventing electrical current from passing between the rotatable accessory and the remainder of the chuck assembly via the chuck jaw.

A battery-powered tool (10) generally comprises a motor (24) having a positive terminal (64) and a negative terminal (66) extending therefrom for continuous engagement to a rotatable actuator (26). Actuator (26) has a plurality of conductive arms (28) extending therefrom for contact with a battery assembly (20) such that the actuator (26) can be selectively rotated to engage the motor (24) in both high speed and low speed operations.
