An example display system includes an on-screen display (OSD) circuit, an input/output (I/O) controller, and a map engine. The OSD circuit operates a functionality of a display device. The I/O controller routes input from a peripheral device to the OSD circuit when the OSD mode is active. The map engine causes activation of the OSD mode when an input sequence received by the I/O controller corresponds to an OSD mode activation sequence.

Routing input to on-screen display

In an example implementation according to aspects of the present disclosure, a method may receive a set of customizable characteristics corresponding to an onscreen display reference point. The onscreen display reference point may be composed based on the set of customizable characteristics. The onscreen display reference point may be stored in nonvolatile memory. The onscreen display reference point may be rendered on a display, wherein the rendering is independent of a video stream.

An example peripheral device includes circuitry to identify a target device that matches the device type identifier of the peripheral device. The example circuitry of the peripheral device is to cause selection of an input component device, transmission of a request to place the input component of the target device into an instruction set receiver mode, and operation of an output component of the peripheral device to produce audio output or video output that represents the instruction set in response to a determination that an instruction set version identifier of the target device mismatches the instruction set version identifier of the peripheral device.

In an example in accordance with the present disclosure, a display device is described. The display device includes a display screen to display content. The display device has a first mode and a second mode. A first mode brightness scale, which defines a range of available brightness values for the display screen, is different than a second mode brightness scale. The display device includes a display controller to select a brightness scale for the display device based on a current mode of the display device.

The first time a display device is turned on, is turned on after it has been factory reset, or is factory reset, the display device displays a message indicating that in a default and current power mode of the display device, a hardware component of the display device different than display hardware is powered off when the display device enters a low-power state. A user is permitted to have the hardware component remain powered on when the display device enters the low-power state.

An example system includes an input engine to determine an aspect ratio of each of a plurality of video signals input to the system. The system includes an arrangement engine to determine positions in a display area for the plurality of video signals based on the aspect ratio of each video signal. The system includes a display engine to output screen content corresponding to the plurality of video signals at the determined positions.

A display device may include a processing device; a touch control module to, when executed by the processing device: detect a touch at a bezel of the display device; present a plurality of navigation buttons at a location of the detected touch; and display an on-screen display (OSD) upon detection of the touch.

A monitor includes: a circuit board; a display device controlled by the circuit board; and a touchpad to receive user input for the circuit board. The touchpad is slidable between a retracted position inside the monitor and an extended position where user input can be entered to the touchpad.
