A bearing seat includes a cylindrical scat defining a cylindrical pocket for at least partially containing a bearing. The cylindrical seat includes a cylindrical first wall and an end wall extending from the cylindrical first wall. The cylindrical first wall has an inner face and the end wall includes an integral shim extending outwardly therefrom. The integral shim is configured to contact a side of an outer race of a bearing such that the side of the outer race of the bearing seats firmly against the integral shim.

Method and apparatus for providing clearance for a ball bearing outer race

In an exemplary embodiment, a motor assembly includes a shaft and a compound fan assembly that provides axial and centrifugal air flow. The fan assembly includes a body including an outer surface, a cavity defined by the body outer surface, a plurality of first blades extending radially outwardly from the body outer surface, and a plurality of second blades disposed within the cavity. The shaft is concentric with the body and the second blades are rotatably coupled to the shaft.

Combined axial flow and centrifugal fan in an electrical motor

A gating system for vertical die casting of a squirrel cage rotor includes an upper end ring cavity, a lower end ring cavity, and a plurality of passages in fluid communication with the upper and lower end ring cavities for forming rotor bars. A gate is radially distanced from the passages, and molten metal is injected into the lower end ring cavity and fills the lower end cavity before filling the passages. The passages are therefore filled at approximately the same time and rate until the passages are full and the upper end ring cavity fills with molten metal.
