A telecommunications cable includes multiple binder units. Each binder unit includes a predetermined number of twisted pairs enclosed by a binder unit wrap. A foil free edge tape is applied over the top of the unit wrap with the foil facing inwardly. A drain wire is pulled between the foil and the unit wrap. A preselected number of binder units are enclosed by an overall core wrap, and a shield is applied over the top of the overall core wrap such that the shield surface faces inwardly for improved termination methods. An overall drain wire is placed between the overall core and overall shield. The entire cable may be enclosed by a jacket or sheath.

Shared sheath digital transport termination cable

A cable includes a pre-selected number of binder units. Each binder unit includes an even number of paired couples of conductors, evenly divided into quads, and an additional twisted pair of conductors, coupled with and encircled around a length of a filler material, extended in parallel so the quads of conductor pairs surround the additional pair of conductors and the filler material. A binder unit wrap encloses each binder unit and a foil free edge tape is applied with the foil facing inwardly and a drain wire pulled between the foil and the unit wrap. An overall core wrap encloses each binder unit, and a shield is applied over the top of the overall core wrap such that the shield surface faces inwardly for improved termination methods. An overall drain wire is placed between the overall core wrap and overall shield. The entire cable may be enclosed by a jacket or sheath. A method for forming the cable is also disclosed.

Cable with twisting filler and shared sheath

The invention is comprised of a cable assembly having a cable, a modular plug, and a molded stress relief body. The cable includes at least one twisted wire pair of a given length and at least one outer jacket that surrounds a portion of the length of the twisted wire pair, wherein each individual wire of the twisted wire pair is comprised of a conductor wire and an outer insulator. The modular plug includes an uppermost surface and a receiving cavity to establish an electrical connection with the cable. A molded stress relief body is used to cover at least a portion of the cable and the modular plug. To reduce the amount of stress and strain encountered by and between the modular plug and the cable, the molded stress relief body is molded about, or bonded to, at least a portion of the twisted wire pair that is not surrounded by the outer jacket of the cable. Hence, the molded stress relief body provides a connection between the cable and modular plug and is firmly attached to the twisted pair so as to effectively secure or &ldquo;freeze&rdquo; the twisted wire pair, or pair, in place.

Cable assembly with molded stress relief and method for making the same

A cable includes an even number of pairs of conductors divided into an even number of groups and a single pair of conductors that encircle a length of filler material. The even number of groups conductors surround the single pair of conductors and the filler material. In one embodiment, the filler material is twined to cause an air gap to surround any portion of the groups that are not in contact with the filler material. In another embodiment, a longitudinal groove is formed on the outer surface of the filler material and the single pair of conductors rides on the groove. An outer shield surrounds all the pairs of conductors and the filler material. A method of forming the cable is disclosed.

Cable with twisting filler

A fiberboard blank for making a container is disclosed. The blank has a first, a second, a third and a fourth side panel. A first, a second, and a third upper flap are foldably connected to the first, second, and third side panels respectively. The first and third side panels have a first and third hand hole and a first and second slot, respectively. The second upper flap has a second hand hole and a first projection. Upon assembly of the container, the first, second, and third hand holes align, the first and second slots align and the first projection is received in the first and second slots.

A low loss data cable includes a plurality of conductor pairs combined to form a core, each conductor pair including coupled braided conductors where each conductor encircles its coupled conductor with each conductor encircling being defined as a pair lay length. A first insulating material layer separately insulates each of the conductors. A second insulating material layer, surrounds a core that includes the plurality of conductor pairs in a twist formation where each of the plurality of conductor pairs encircles a center gap separating all of the conductor pairs. When each conductor pair encircling is defined as a core lay length, the pair lay length of each of the conductor pairs is no greater than about one third of the core lay length.

Low loss data cable

High performance data cables are provided that allows for future growth in networking speeds. The high performance data cables achieve this result while satisfying the dimensional requirements set by the EIA/TIA 568-A standards as well as fire performance safety requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). High performance data cables of this invention achieve the above by controlling parameters that influence impedance performance, near-end crosstalk performance and attenuation. A separating filler material is used to maximize the pair-to-pair distance while maintaining an overall maximum outside diameter of 0.250'. This construction benefits crosstalk performance, as both electrical and magnetic field intensities are inversely related to distance and dielectric constant (crosstalk is made up of capacitative and inductive coupling, with inductive coupling becoming significant at frequencies above 50 MHz). Balancing between parameters that influence impedance, near-end crosstalk and attenuation performance by choice of materials and physical dimensions of the filler material, insulation material, jacket material and conductor, the overall performance of the data cable of this invention is achieved. A standard for the high performance data cables of this invention is also disclosed.

High performance data cable

A plenum rated cable having a core that includes a transmission medium of a plurality of insulated conductors preferably having thereon an insulating layer of a fluorinated ethylene composition. A shield surrounds the insulated conductors and extends longitudinally within and parallel to the length of the cable and includes a first layer of aluminum material and a second layer of low temperature smoke resistant cellulose acetate or polypropylene. The first and second layers are bonded together. A drain wire drains leakage within the cable generated from the current and allows for easy termination of the shield to a connector. A thermoplastic jacket encloses the drain wire and longitudinally surrounds the shield. The jacket is made preferably of a polyvinyl chloride composition.

Plenum rated cables and shielding tape

A plenum rated cable having a core that includes a transmission medium of one or more copper or tin-copper conductors having thereon an insulating layer of an ethylene-chloro tetrafluoro ethylene composition. A first shield surrounds the core and extends longitudinally within and parallel to the length of the cable and includes a first layer of aluminum material and a second layer of cellulose acetate or polypropylene. The first and second layers are bonded together. A second shield surrounds the first shield and extends longitudinally within and parallel to the length of the cable and includes a first layer of aluminum and a second layer of cellulose acetate or polypropylene. The first and second layers are bonded together. A drain wire drains leakage within the cable generated from the current and allows for easy termination of the shield to the connector. A thermoplastic jacket encloses the drain wire and longitudinally surrounds the second shield and is made of a polyvinyl chloride composition.
