Systems, assemblies, and methods for providing negative-pressure therapy to a tissue site are described. The system can include an absorbent and a sealing layer configured to cover the absorbent. The system can also include a blister fluidly coupled to the absorbent. The blister may have a collapsed position and an expanded position. A first check valve may be fluidly coupled to the absorbent and the blister and configured to prevent fluid flow from the blister into the absorbent if the blister is moved from the expanded position to the collapsed position. A second check valve may be fluidly coupled to the blister and the ambient environment and configured to prevent fluid flow from the ambient environment into the blister if the blister is moved from the collapsed position to the expanded position.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for debriding a tissue site are described. The system includes a manifold and a cover adapted to form a sealed space over the tissue site for providing negative pressure. The system also includes a debridement tool positioned between the manifold and the tissue site. The debridement tool having a tissue-facing surface and a plurality of holes separated from each other by walls. The walls have transverse surfaces extending between the tissue-facing surface and an opposite surface that form cutting edges. The holes have a perforation shape factor that allows the holes to collapse from a relaxed position to a contracted position in response to the application and removal of negative pressure from the sealed space. The cutting edges debride the tissue site in response to movement between the relaxed position and the contracted position.

Debriding dressing for use with negative pressure and fluid instillation

In some illustrative examples, a bridge suitable for treating a tissue site may include a bridge sealing member and one or more bridge wicking layers. The bridge sealing member may extend along a length of the bridge, and may define an internal passageway in fluid communication between a receiving end of the bridge and a transmitting end of the bridge. The one or more bridge wicking layers may be disposed within the internal passageway of the bridge sealing member. Other apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

A wound dressing includes an elastic foam layer, a drape layer, and superabsorbent projections. The elastic foam layer is configured to engage a wound bed and has a first side and a second side, the second side configured to face the wound bed. The drape layer also has a first side and a second side, the second side configured to face the first side of the elastic foam layer. The elastic foam layer also has a plurality of superabsorbent projections (nodules, dots, bumps, lumps, islands, protuberances) fixed to and extending from the first side of the elastic foam layer towards the second side of the drape layer.

Flexible and conformable wound dressing with enhanced fluid absorption capability

A method and apparatus for disrupting material at a tissue site is described. A contact layer may be selected for use on the tissue site and positioned adjacent to the tissue site. The contact layer may include walls defining a plurality of through-holes. A sealing member may be positioned over the contact layer and sealed to tissue surrounding the tissue site to form a sealed space enclosing the contact layer. A negative-pressure source may be fluidly coupled to the sealed space. The negative-pressure source may supply negative pressure to the sealed space and the contact layer to draw tissue into the through-holes to form nodules. The negative pressure may be vented from the sealed space to release the nodules.

Disruptive dressing for use with negative pressure and fluid instillation

In one example embodiment, an apparatus for treating a tissue site may include a contact layer formed from a compressible material. The contact layer may include a plurality of apertures extending at least partially through the contact layer. The contact layer may be configurable such that at least a portion of the apertures include a first plurality of orifices having a diameter in a first diameter range and such that at least a portion of the apertures include a second plurality of orifices having a diameter in a second diameter range. The first diameter range may be from about 2 mm to about 6 mm. The second diameter range may be from about 8 mm to about 15 mm. The apparatus may include a cover configured to form a sealed space including the contact layer and the tissue site.

Dressing providing apertures with multiple orifice sizes for negative-pressure therapy

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for closing an opening through a surface of a tissue site are described. The system includes a sealing member adapted to cover the opening to form a sealed space and a negative-pressure source adapted to be fluidly coupled to the sealed space to provide negative pressure to the sealed space. The system also includes a contracting layer adapted to be positioned adjacent the opening and formed from a material having a firmness factor and a plurality of holes extending through the contracting layer to form a void space. The holes have a perforation shape factor and a strut angle causing the plurality of holes to collapse in a direction substantially perpendicular to the opening. The contracting layer generates a closing force substantially parallel to the surface of the tissue site to close the opening in response to application of the negative pressure.

Dressing with contracting layer for linear tissue sites

A dressing for treating tissue may be a composite of dressing layers, including a contact layer, a manifold layer, and an adhesive drape. The manifold layer may include one or more layers of felted open-cell foam in some examples. The manifold layer may be relatively thin to reduce the dressing profile and increase flexibility, which can enable it to conform to difficult geometry and other tissue sites under negative pressure. The dressing may have a length and a width less than the length. The manifold layer may include a population of holes extending at least partially therethrough, wherein the holes may be configured to promote anisotropic contraction of the dressing parallel to its width. The population of holes may have a circular, ovoid, triangular, square, hexagonal, irregular, or morphous shape. The dressing may be a bolster that may anisotropically contract to provide a closing force to a linear wound.

Multi-layer negative pressure incisional wound therapy dressing

A system for applying negative pressure to a joint positioned in a treatment area. The system includes a negative pressure dressing. The negative pressure dressing includes a compressive layer and a sealing layer. The compressive layer includes a first surface and a second, treatment area-facing. The compressive layer further includes a first elongated portion configured to be positioned proximate the joint. The first elongated portion includes a first end and a second end. The compressive layer further includes a second elongated portion spaced from the first elongated portion and configured to be positioned proximate the joint. The second elongated portion includes a first end and a second end. The compressive layer further includes an interconnecting portion extending between the first elongated portion and the second elongated portion. The interconnecting portion is configured to overlie at least a portion of the joint. The compressive layer further includes a plurality of channels formed in the first surface and extending proximate the second surface. The plurality of channels is formed in at least one of the first end and the second end of the first elongated portion and at least one of the first end and the second end of the second elongated portion. The sealing layer is configured to form a seal around a perimeter of the negative pressure dressing.

Dressing design incorporating formed 3D textile for the delivery of therapeutic negative pressure and compressive forces to a treatment site

A selectively transparent wound therapy dressing, system, and method of use are provided. The dressing may include conformable foam and drape layers, wherein the drape layer has a refractive index substantially within a range of a disclosing liquid. When the disclosing liquid is applied to the drape layer, the drape layer may switch from opaque to transparent. Subsequent evaporation of the disclosing liquid may return the drape layer to an opaque state. Some embodiments provide for paired use with a negative pressure source input device. The method of use provides selective visibility of a treatment site, and reduces the amount of time in which a patient views an acute or traumatic wound or injury.

Wound dressing with selective and dynamic transparency

Sealing members and methods of manufacturing the same are described. A first film layer and a second film layer each having a first side and a second side can be provided. A first adhesive can be coupled to the second side of the first film layer to form a first adhesive layer. A second adhesive can be coupled to the second side of the second film layer to form a second adhesive layer, and a third adhesive can be coupled to the first side of the second film layer to form a third adhesive layer. One or more perforations can be formed through the third adhesive layer, the second film layer, and the second adhesive layer. A first side of the third adhesive layer can be coupled to a second side of the first adhesive layer.

Hybrid silicone and acrylic adhesive cover for use with wound treatment

A dressing or wound filler comprising a laminate structure of materials. In one example embodiment, a dressing may include a first layer comprising a first film, a second layer adjacent to the first layer and comprising a foam, and a third layer comprising a second film. The first layer and the second layer may further include a plurality of perforations or fenestrations. The third layer may include a plurality of raised features. The perforations or fenestrations of the first and second layers may be positioned or aligned with the raised features of the third layer so as to facilitate tearing of the dressing for sizing and application purposes. In some embodiments, the first layer may comprise a polyurethane film, the second layer may comprise a polyurethane foam, and the third layer may comprise an additional polyurethane film.

Tearable dressing structure

An apparatus for filling a wound can include an array of at least four truncated ellipsoids interconnected to define at least one fluid path through, for example perpendicular to, the array. The longest principal axis of each ellipsoid may be perpendicular to the array. Each truncated ellipsoid may be a spheroid and/or may include an approximately elliptical contact surface at each contact surface between two interconnected ellipsoids. Each fluid pathway may have four continuously-curved concave sides and may have a parallelogram-shaped cross-section with continuously-curved concave edges. A dressing may include the apparatus, a dressing layer coupled to the apparatus, a backing layer disposed over a surface of the dressing layer opposite the apparatus, and an attachment device disposed on at least a margin of the backing layer. Methods of treating various tissue sites using the apparatus or dressing with negative-pressure therapy are also disclosed.
