A trap filter assembly of the type employed with a video cable system to block a particular band of video frequencies has a housing formed as a generally rectangular block of square cross-section, made of cast aluminum or other suitable material. A cavity formed in the housing has first and second compartments which are separated from one another by a pair of barrier walls that define therebetween a channel passageway that extends from one corner of the first cavity compartment to a laterally opposite corner of the second cavity compartment. This prevents any direct line of sight signal path for stray video signals between the first and second compartments. First and second printed circuit filter boards are mounted in the compartments, preferably by a threaded fastener which mounts the boards onto respective pedestals in the compartments. A bare-braid coax conductor passes through the channel between the barrier walls and unites the signal paths on the two boards in the respective compartments. A cover or closure plate of a suitable conductive material closes off the access opening to the cavity. The male connector preferably has a rotatable threaded sleeve. This filter trap assembly can be installed in an on-premise enclosure. Signal degradation is reduced by half.

Video filter assembly

A trap filter assembly, of the type which can be employed with a video cable system to block a particular channel or band of channels and pass the remaining video signal, is formed of a circuit board, a centrally-disposed cylindrical ground block, and a housing formed of male and female housing halves which are press-fit over the circuit board onto the ground block. The housing halves form a solderless connection with the ground block, and the latter forms a solderless connection with ground pads on the printed circuit board. A slot cut in the cylindrical ground block receives the printed circuit board, and a zig-zag channel structure formed in one wall of the slot permits a zig-zag signal lead to extend from one end of the printed circuit board through a ground area of the board, to the other end thereof.

Trap filter assembly

A split tuning filter is disclosed in which at least two separate electrically interconnected filter sections mounted on a common circuit board are magnetically isolated through an isolation area defined by a pair of spaced isolation shields. A conductor interconnecting the two filter sections passes through the isolation area and has an external terminal connected thereto which allows each of the two filter sections to be independently tuned, with the isolation area minimizing the tuning impact of one filter section on the other. To further increase magnetic isolation, respective resonating capacitors provided in the filter sections have grounded plates perpendicularly interposed in the line of sight between primary tuning coils which are also respectively provided in the filter sections, with the grounded plates facing toward the isolation shields.
