A network device may receive a request for functionality to switch to wideband audio at a user device receiving over-the-top (OTT) video and OTT audio associated with a video conferencing application provided by an application server. The network device may switch from the OTT audio to the wideband audio, for the video conferencing application, based on receiving the request for the functionality. The network device may provide the wideband audio associated with the video conferencing application to the user device to cause the user device to provide the OTT video and the wideband audio independently.

Systems and methods for enhancing audio for a video conferencing application

Systems and methods provide reliable voice connections dual-connectivity environments, given limitations of available spectrum. A system includes a first wireless station and a second wireless station. The first wireless station provides a shared spectrum of a first frequency band, the shared spectrum including a first spectrum for a first cellular wireless standard and a second spectrum for a second cellular wireless standard. The second wireless station is at least partially within a coverage area of the first wireless station and provides a third spectrum for the second cellular wireless standard. The third spectrum is a millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The first wireless station broadcasts a parameter barring an end device in an idle mode from camping on the second spectrum. The first wireless station or the second wireless station triggers the end device to swap to the second spectrum when a paging request for a voice call is received.

Method and system for supporting voice calls in 5G new radio environments

A device may receive, from an application function device (AF), a message intended for a destination user device, wherein the message conforms to a first format. The device may obtain, from a unified data management device (UDM), information indicating that the destination user device is capable of receiving messages that conform to a second format. The device may convert, based on the information indicating that the destination user device is capable of receiving messages that conform to the second format, the message from the first format to the second format. The device may send, after converting the message from the first format to the second format, the message to a short message service function device (SMSF) via a direct connection between the device and the SMSF, wherein the SMSF sends the message to the destination user device.

Method and device for communicating messages within a 5G network

A device receives a call invitation message with a Session Description Protocol (SDP) offer for establishing a call between a calling party and a called party and obtains a set of network fallback rules associated with the called party. The device determines, based on the set of network fallback rules, whether to reject the call and avoid network fallback from a first wireless network to a second wireless network. The device sends, based on the determination, a call denial message without an SDP answer, to reject the call and avoid the network fallback.

User-configured network fallback control

A system described herein may provide a technique for handling call requests, prior to the performance of a call setup procedure, based on attributes of a calling User Equipment ('UE') and/or a called UE. A Messaging Application Server may receive a call request, from the calling UE and to the called UE, identify a category or event type associated with the call request, and notify the called UE of the call request, including the category or event type. Different categories or event types may be associated with different sets of eligible actions to perform. The called UE may indicate a particular action, associated with the identified category or event type, and the MAS may handle the call request according to the particular action (e.g., reject the call request or proceed with a call setup procedure).

Systems and methods for enhanced messaging for network- and user equipment-implemented call request handling

A Next Generation network device receives, from a user equipment device (UE), a Service Request for establishing a Multimedia Priority Services (MPS) session. The Next Generation network device determines whether the Service Request includes a MPS fallback request to request network fallback from a Next Generation network to a Fourth Generation (4G) network for the MPS session. The device causes, based on the Service Request including the MPS fallback request, establishment of the MPS session from the UE device via the 4G network by performing one of: a handover procedure from the Next Generation network to the 4G network, or a Radio Resource Control (RRC) redirection procedure from the Next Generation network to the 4G network.

Network fallback for multimedia priority services

Systems and methods provide reliable voice connections and highest possible data rates in New Radio dual-connectivity environments, given limitations of available spectrum. A system includes a first wireless station and a second wireless station. The first wireless station provides a shared spectrum of a first frequency band, the shared spectrum including a first spectrum for a first cellular wireless standard and a second spectrum for a second cellular wireless standard. The second wireless station is at least partially within a coverage area of the first wireless station and provides a third spectrum for the second cellular wireless standard. The third spectrum is a millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The first wireless station broadcasts cell parameters barring an end device in an idle mode from camping on the second spectrum. The first wireless station or the second wireless station triggers the end device to swap to the second spectrum when a paging request for a voice call is received.

A method may include establishing a Fifth Generation (5G) a network connection with a user equipment (UE) device and receiving, by a 5G wireless station, information associated with handling voice communication sessions for the UE device. The method may also include receiving information, from the UE device or directed to the UE device, associated with a first voice communication session, signaling a Fourth Generation (4G) wireless station to establish a connection to the UE device, in response to receiving the information associated with the first voice communication session and establishing, by the 4G wireless station, a connection to the UE device. The method may further include conducting the first voice communication session over a 4G network, determining whether the first voice communication session has terminated and determining whether to reconnect to the 5G network, in response to determining that the first voice communication session has terminated.

Network fallback and fast return

A network device may include a memory to store instructions. The network device may further include a processor to execute the instructions to obtain information relating to a loosely-coupled composite service, where the loosely-coupled composite service includes a group of services. The processor may further execute the instructions to analyze the obtained information to determine one or more design recommendations, and re-factor the loosely-coupled composite service as a target composite platform based on at least one of the one or more design recommendations.

Composite service refactoring

At least one device receives a call request from a calling party to a called party. The device routes the call request to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core when a first condition is met and bypasses the IMS core when a second condition is met.

A method includes receiving a telephone number mapping query associated with a call. The method may also include generating routing information based on the query and forwarding the routing information to a control device. The routing information may indicate that processing associated with routing the call is to bypass a core portion of an Internet multimedia subsystem (IMS) when a calling party associated with the call does not invoke an IMS service, the called party associated with the call does not invoke an IMS service and the called party is not an IMS subscriber.

Routing calls in a network

A network device may receive a call request message. The call request message may include information identifying a user to which the call is destined. The network device may further retrieve, using the information identifying the user, information identifying a device with which the user is associated. In addition, the network device may retrieve, using the information identifying the device, a first list of codecs that the device is willing to support, and establish the call to the device using a codec from the first list of codecs.

Look-ahead capability determination via device profiles

A method may include receiving a telephone number mapping query from a querying device, the telephone number mapping query being associated with a call from a calling party to a called party. The method may also include retrieving address information based on the telephone number mapping query, the address information including addresses associated a number of network devices. The method may further include retrieving call type information associated with each of the addresses, and forwarding the address information and the call type information to the querying device.
