In an electronic cable, a shielding tape prevents and mitigates the creation and propagation of micro-fractures and the deleterious effects thereof. In some embodiments, the shielding tape has layers which are oriented in a non-zero transverse relation with respect to each other, or have been treated to have non-zero orientations. Other embodiments include micro-fracture propagation mitigation means, such as perforations, ridges, waffling, and dimpling. In some embodiments, the layers of the shielding tape are bonded to each other with an electrically-conductive elastomeric adhesive. In other embodiments, the shielding tape is wrapped around a cable's dielectric and form an overlap gap, which is filled by an electrically-conductive elastomeric adhesive.

A deformable shield for mitigating radio frequency interference with a male coaxial connector includes a flexible hollow body having opposed front and rear ends, a concave section of the body proximate the front end, defining an open mouth of the shield configured to receive a female coaxial port, and a bellows section of the body behind the concave section. The bellows section terminates at the rear end with another mouth configured to be fit upon the male coaxial connector.

Deformable radio frequency interference shield

A connecting device configured to be installed on a first coaxial cable connector to facilitate connection of the first connector to a second connector and to maintain ground continuity across the connectors. In some embodiments, the connecting device includes a grounding element disposed in a gripping member, the grounding element including one or more projections configured to extend beyond an end of the gripping member to conductively engage an outer surface of the second connector.

An embodiment of a coaxial cable connector includes an inner post and a coupling interface mounted on the inner post, a barrel mounted on the inner post, the barrel including a front sleeve and a rear sleeve coupled to each other at a frangible band, and a compression collar mounted over the barrel for movement between a retracted position and an advanced position. Movement of the compression collar from the retracted position to the advanced position severs the frangible band, thereby separating the front sleeve from the rear sleeve.

A coaxial cable termination device includes a barrel having opposed front and rear ends and a circumferential channel. A collet is at the front end of the barrel, and a sleeve is mounted over the barrel for reciprocal movement between a retracted position, in which the sleeve allows expansion and compression of the collet, and an advanced position, in which the sleeve prevents expansion of the collet. A locking mechanism is formed integrally in the sleeve and includes an arm mounted at a living hinge for movement between an unlocked position and a locked position in which a tooth on the arm is disposed within the circumferential channel. A lever is opposite the tooth from the living hinge and releases the arm from the locked position thereof.

A coaxial cable connector includes an outer barrel having a front end and a rear end. The connector includes an inner sleeve within the outer barrel defining a bore, the inner sleeve moving between uncompressed and compressed conditions and including a finger which is formed in the inner sleeve for resilient movement between a neutral position in which the finger is out of the bore, and a deformed position in which the finger is deformed into the bore. The finger includes a base formed to the inner sleeve and a free end. Axial movement of the inner sleeve with respect to the outer barrel from a compressed condition to an uncompressed condition imparts movement to the finger from the neutral position to the deformed position.

A coaxial cable connector includes a barrel having a longitudinal axis, a front end, and an annular sidewall extending rearwardly from the front end of the barrel along the longitudinal axis. A compression band is formed in the sidewall and includes a thinned portion of the sidewall and annular first and second ridges flanking the thinned portion. An annular forward ridge is formed in the sidewall in front of the first ridge. A compression collar is mounted to the barrel for axial movement between a retracted position and an advanced position in which the sidewall is deformed radially inward only at the compression band.

A shielded coaxial termination device includes a center conductor having a front end and a barrel encircling the center conductor. The barrel includes a front end and an annular sidewall defining an interior configured to receive and electrically couple with a coaxial post. A shield, having a front end and an opposed rear end, is mounted to the barrel so as to deploy from a retracted position toward an advanced position to radially cover the center conductor when the barrel is not fully installed on a coaxial post.

A coaxial cable connector includes a connector body and a coupling nut on the connector body, and a radio frequency interference shield fit to the coupling nut. The radio frequency interference shield includes a front end and a rear end, a bellows section proximate the rear end, and a concave conical section proximate the front end. A cable connector includes a body having a longitudinal axis, a front, and an annular sidewall extending reardwardly from the front of the body along the longitudinal axis. The connector further includes a compression band in the sidewall, wherein the compression band has a thinned portion of the sidewall and also annular first and second ridges flanking the thinned portion. A compression collar is mounted to the body for axial movement between a retracted position and an advanced position in which the sidewall is deformed radially inward only at the compression band.

A cable connector includes a body having a longitudinal axis, an inner post, an outer barrel mounted to the inner post, and a fitting mounted to the inner post. The inner post includes a front, a rear, and an outwardly-directed front flange at the front. The fitting includes a front, a rear, and an inwardly-directed rear flange at the rear. The fitting is mounted on the inner post so that the front and rear flanges overlap to define a toroidal volume. A wave washer and a lock washer are each carried in the toroidal volume. When the fitting is applied to a female post, the wave washer and the lock washer are compressed between the front and rear flanges and exert an axial bias on the front and rear flanges to prevent axial separation of the fitting and the female post.

A coaxial cable termination device including a barrel having opposed front and rear ends, a collet at the front end of the barrel, and a sleeve mounted over the barrel for reciprocal movement. The sleeve moves between a retracted position, in which the sleeve allows compression of the collet, and an advanced position, in which the sleeve urges compression of the collet. In some embodiments, a locking mechanism locks the sleeve into either of the advanced and retracted positions. In some embodiments, contact means carried loosely within the device maintain contact between the barrel and a mating post to which the device is applied.
