A filter assembly comprises a housing open at a first end and holding a filter element therein and an end plate secured to the housing and closing the first end and enclosing the filter element within the housing. The plate includes a first inlet opening, a second inlet opening, and an outlet opening. The filter assembly further includes a fluid flow controller disposed between an end of the filter element and the end plate. The flow controller includes a valve including a first portion cooperating with the first inlet opening and a second portion cooperating with the second inlet opening. The fluid flow controller further includes a spring-loaded valve seat in communication with the valve and providing resistance to movement of the first portion of the valve.

A thermally stable electrically conductive polymer mixture, for use in forming electrically conductive molded articles, includes at least two additives for contributing to the polymer mixture's electrical conductivity. At least one of the additives concentrates at or near the surface of a molded article for electrical surface conductivity, while at least one other additive concentrates at or near the core of a molded article to heighten electrical core conductivity to promote electrostatic discharge.

A method of assembling a fluid filter begins with a step of aligning housing shells to form a housing. A seam is defined in an area where the housing shells contact one another. The housing shells surround and enclose a porous filter element, having an edge portion that is substantially parallel to an adjacent side wall of the housing. The next step involves heating the first and second housing shells in the area of the seam, such that the first and second end caps are fused together. Another step of the method involves moving molten plastic, from the seam area of the housing, inwardly to contact the filter element, such that the filter element becomes fixed in position in the housing. Preferably, the molten plastic is arranged to form a circumferential seal around the filter element. A filter made according to the method is also described.

Method of making a fluid filter, and filter which is a product thereof

A hollow plastic filter housing which is assembled from multiple parts, in which two primary housing members are alignable along a seam, and wherein the seam is disposed in a skewed orientation with respect to a longitudinal axis of the housing. The filter housing includes a first housing member and a second housing member which is attachably alienable with the first housing member. The first and second housing members are abuttingly aligned and joined together along a weld seam which is skewed with respect to a longitudinal axis of the housing. The weld seam may be disposed at an angle or alternatively, may be curved and may include corresponding alignment structures.

A dual-flow lubricant filter assembly having a bypass filter element with a full-flow filter element stacked thereon includes a grommet disposed between the filter elements for isolating lubricant streams after the lubricant has passed through the filter elements. The grommet is molded of a resinous material and includes an external flange which is sandwiched between the bypass and full-flow filter elements in order to axially position the grommet. The grommet also includes an internal flange which seals with an unthreaded portion of a standpipe with which the filter assembly is coupled.
