A system and method for automatically answering a call from a calling party to a called party that originates via the Internet, includes and involves a data storage system and processor that is coupled to the data storage system. The processor is operative to initiate an automated call answering service in response to an Internet telephony call from the calling party which is intended to be received by the called party, to receive a message from the calling party via the Internet in accordance with the automated call answering service, and to store the message in the data storage system for processing by the processor in accordance with the automated call answering service.

A replication priority queuing system prioritizes replication requests in accordance with a predetermined scheme. An exemplary system includes a Replication Priority Queue Manager that receives update requests and assigns a priority based upon business rules and stores the requests in associated storage means. A Replication Decision Engine retrieves the requests from storage and determines a destination for the update based upon predetermined replication rules, and sends the update to the destination.

A teleconference recording and marking system for use by a plurality of teleconference participants includes a plurality of telephones with each having a mechanism for transmitting a voice signal and a marking signal. A mechanism is provided for establishing a communications link between the telephones. Another mechanism is used for recording the audible voice signals and marking signals transmitted from the telephones in a digital data stream. Also included is a mechanism for determining a plurality of time offsets with each time offset measured from a known location in the data stream to each marking signal. A storage mechanism is included for storing the data stream and time offsets. Lastly, a player mechanism is provided for playing the data stream starting at any one of the time offsets. The system combines the use of telecommunication and computer networks in order to allow teleconferences to be recorded and marked and later retrieved and played.
