Various power transmission and generation systems and assemblies are provided for a wind turbine. In one embodiment, a power generation system is provided including a transmission having an input axially aligned with an output, the input configured to receive rotary motion generated by a wind driven rotor head, the input located downwind of the output, an electromagnetic apparatus having an input configured to be coupled to the transmission output, and a bearing configured to radially support both the transmission output and the electromagnetic apparatus input. In this way, a common bearing may support both the transmission and electromagnetic apparatus, allowing for a more compact and efficient design while retaining service and repair capabilities.

System and assembly for power transmission and generation in a wind turbine

A gearbox including a gear-train including an input and an output and a rotating conduit internally traversing the gear-train is provided. The rotating conduit is configured to receive lubrication fluid from one or more components downstream of the rotating conduit and deliver lubrication fluid to one or more components upstream of the rotating conduit. The components downstream of the rotating conduit rotate at a different speed than components upstream of the rotating conduit.

A transmission assembly included in a power generation system of a wind turbine, the wind turbine having one or more wind driven rotor blades. The transmission assembly includes a transmission including an input carrier and a gear-train rotatably coupling the input carrier to a transmission output, the input carrier configured to transfer a rotational input from the rotor blades to the gear-train and a removable input bearing cartridge coupled to a periphery of the input carrier, exterior to the gear-train, the removable bearing cartridge in axial alignment with the input carrier.
