A toy vehicle track system of the present application includes electrical connections between the track pieces that allow a central hub, referred to herein as a 'portal piece,' to communicate with any track pieces included in the track system. In order to ensure that the portal piece can quickly and accurately identify track configurations that are built, the toy vehicle track system implements a communications protocol that supports communications between any two pieces of track. Based on these communications, the portal piece can determine an orientation, a track type, and a position of any track pieces attached, whether directly or indirectly, to the portal piece. The portal piece can then transmit this information to an electronic device executing an application associated with the track system to allow for digital play on a digital version of the track configuration (among other digital play modes).

Toy vehicle track system

A gyroscopic exercise ball () includes a housing () surrounding a rotor () centrally disposed on a shaft () having two ends () mounted in notches () of a freely rotatable gimbal ring (). The ring and the ends of said shaft are disposed in a groove having a height larger than a diameter of the ends of the shaft. The diameter is larger than a thickness of the gimbal ring, and a rotation rate sensor () measures the rotor speed. A processor () is in communication with the rotation rate sensor to calculate an exercise evaluation. A pitch axis and a roll axis gyroscopic sensor () are in communication with the processor. The exercise evaluation determines energy expenditure, force, power, angles or angular velocity of motion, range of motion, position, speed or trajectory of motion, and an evaluation of form for an individual exercise.

A universal broadband server connected between a plurality of subscriber lines, at least one upstream link, and a central office provides broadband service to a plurality of customer premise equipment devices connected to the plurality of subscriber lines. The universal broadband server may also provides analog modem service to the plurality of customer premise equipment devices connected to the plurality of subscriber lines. A dynamic bandwidth allocation method adjusts the transmit power and bandwidth at which the universal broadband server communicates with the plurality of customer premise equipment devices in consideration of the maximum available bandwidth provided by the at least one upstream link, and the maximum available power.

A faster modem apparatus communicates with customer premise equipment according to a variety of communication protocols. The faster modem apparatus communicates with customer premise equipment comprising an analog soft-modem comprising a codec. A method utilizes an unused portion of the codec operating range to code and decode data signals having frequencies above 4 kHz. The faster modem apparatus also codes and decodes data signals above 4 kHz. The analog soft-modem and the faster modem apparatus transmit and receive coded analog signals at a signal level of greater than &#x2212;9 dBm. In one embodiment, the faster modem apparatus is also operative to communicate with additional modems such as dial-up modems and DSL modems. In one embodiment, the faster modem apparatus supports simultaneous voice and data communications.

Faster modem method and apparatus

M DSL Modems provide DSL service to N Customer Premise Equipment devices, wherein M is less than N. P OAM/EOC Modems maintain active DSL lines for the N&#x2212;M=P Customer Premise Equipment devices not receiving DSL service. The OAM/EOC Modems communicate synchronization data via superframes with the P Customer Premise Equipment Devices. Requests to send and receive data are embedded within the superframes. A switch in communication with the DSL Modems and OAM/EOC Modems connects the DSL Modems and OAM/EOC Modems to respective Customer Premise Equipment devices in response to the requests to send and receive data.

Method and system for oversubscribing a DSL modem

A system for oversubscribing a pool of modems comprises at least one digital signal processor and a switch. The digital signal processor is configured as a variable number of high speed data modems and a variable number of low bandwidth synchronization modems. A communication bus is connected to the digital signal processor for configuring the processor, connecting the system to external devices, and communicating status information with external devices. The high speed data modems and low bandwidth synchronization modems are connected, via the switch, to customer premise equipment devices. Active data and synchronization data is transferred between the high speed data modems, the low bandwidth synchronization modems, and respective customer premise equipment devices. The synchronization modems consume significantly less power than the high speed data modems. If there are more modems than there are customer premise equipment devices, some modems are turned off completely thereby further reducing power consumption.

Method and system for oversubscribing a pool of modems

A physical layer router comprises a plurality of subscriber ports, a plurality of dsp pool ports, a switch, isolation circuitry, a tone detector, and control logic. The control logic comprises a microprocessor interface. The physical layer router couples at least some of the plurality of subscriber ports to at least some of the plurality of dsp pool pools. The physical layer router connects every subscriber port not coupled to a dsp pool port to a snoop bus. Tones are detected on the snoop bus. The tones comprise request tones from customer premise equipment devices connected to the plurality of subscriber ports. Exactly one subscriber port is isolated, whereby exactly one customer premise equipment device generating the request tone is isolated. A dsp pool port is coupled to the isolated subscriber port. A fast line acquisition method finds one subscriber port of the plurality of subscriber ports receiving the request tones.
