A hinge and armrest assembly is provided with a stationary portion and a reclining portion. The stationary portion is affixed to a seat bottom and the reclining portion is affixed to a seat back. A link is coupled to the fixed portion on one end and a rotating cage on the opposite end. The rotating cage is located and overlays an armrest receiving portion on the reclining portion. An armrest has a pin that extends through the armrest receiving portion and rotating cage. As the reclining portion rotates with respect to the stationary portion, the rotating cage rotates to maintain the angle of the armrest to the fixed portion.

Arm rest and hinge assembly

A seat pedestal includes an open base upon which a plate assembly is mounted for translational movement upon the base. The plate assembly includes a bottom plate, a seat mount for supporting a seat, and a bearing means between the bottom plate and the seat mount to permit the seat mount to rotate. One lock releasably secures the plate assembly in the driving position and another, which is self-actuating, releases the seat mount so that it can rotate freely when it is in the resting position. A stop carried by the seat mount defines a range in which the seat may be rotated. At least one pair of interlocking members couples the seat mount with the bottom plate to transfer lateral loads born by the seat to the base. The bottom plate, the bearing means, and the seat mount have concentric openings through which wires may pass for accessories such as power/heated seats, headrests, and computer screens and related accoutrements.

Seat pedestal

An all terrain vehicle with a low profile low friction seat support is described. The vehicle includes a rail in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and a seat support with a top member and a bottom member. The seat support is adapted for securing on the rail, and the seat support is adjustable in position in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. A lock is provided for releasably locking the seat support in a forward position, a rearward position and therebetween. A low friction support member is positioned between the top and bottom members. At least two channels are formed in the top member. One of the channels matches the shape of the support member, and the other channel matches the shape of the rail for close registration between the top member and the support member and the rails. The seat support is highly compartmentalized, sturdier, and safer for vehicle occupants.

Low profile low friction vehicle seat support

A cantilevered vehicular seat with force distributing locks is disclosed. The seat is connectable to a support by linkage so the seat is movable relative to the support between a vertical stowable position and a horizontal position. The seat back is pivotally secured to the seat so that it is movable relative to the seat between a lowered position and a raised position. A self-locking pin lock and slot assembly releasably secures the seat back in the raised position when it is unfolded to distribute loads and make the seat sturdier. The pin lock and slot assembly has pivot arms secured to the ends of the seat at respective pivots. The arms operate the folding of the seat back relative to the seat. Slots formed in the seat back receive a retention pin and a lock pin carried by the pivot arms. The retention pin extends the length of the seat to reduce seat back chucking and distribute load to the vehicle. Another latch/lock assembly releasably self-locks the seat in the horizontal position. A self-locking fastener conveniently secures the seat in the vertical position when not in use.

Cantilevered vehicular seat with force distributing locks

An adjustable seat pedestal that allows a user to adjust the height of the seat without sacrificing ride quality. The seat pedestal has a top carrier onto which a seat is mounted and a base that is mounted to the floor of a vehicle. A scissor linkage is employed to allow movement of the carrier toward the base when force is applied through the seat to the carrier when the vehicle hits bumps and forces the user downward. An air bag biases the top carrier upward away from the base. As the upper ends of the scissor linkage move closer together by being pushed upward, a sliding end of the scissor linkage is restrained from movement inward and therefore, limits the maximum height of the pedestal. The pressure in the air bag may be varied which will not change the height above the maximum, but will change the ride quality.
