A fitting assembly for connecting an oil cooler assembly to a radiator assembly in a vehicle cooling system includes a radiator having an inlet header tank with an outer wall. The outer wall includes an inlet cooler opening and an outlet cooler opening disposed in the outer wall. The inlet cooler opening is disposed about an inlet axis and the outlet cooler opening is disposed about an outlet axis. An oil cooler having an inlet manifold and an outlet manifold is disposed within the header tank. A fitting interconnects the oil cooler and the header tank of the radiator. A pair of tracks are integrated with the outer wall and are disposed within the header tank. A spring clip extends between the tracks and the fitting for retaining the fitting to the header tank.

Oil cooler fitting assembly

The aluminum plate oil cooler includes a plurality of pairs of plates that are secured along their perimeter to define an oil flow path. The plates include embossed regions that are formed to provide inlet and outlet ports for the oil. Top and bottom reinforcement plates are positioned at the top and bottom of the plurality of pairs of plates. An internal center is positioned between the plates to increase the heat transfer area and turbulate the oil within the oil cooler. An external center is positioned between each of the plurality of pairs to increase the thermal transfer area on the coolant side of the oil cooler. The external center covers the entire surface of the plates and includes holes formed to correspond with the embossed regions on the plates.

Aluminum plate oil cooler

An automotive radiator has a tank containing a transmission oil cooler which has a double walled tubular configuration for heat transfer from oil circulating between the walls to the engine coolant through its outer wall and its inner wall. Engine coolant flows from radiator heat exchange tubes into the tank and around and through the cooler to a discharge port. To optimize the efficiency of the cooler, a baffle is inserted in the tank to direct most of the coolant flow in the tank through the oil cooler for heat transfer from the inner wall.
