A work machine stability monitoring system may include an environmental sensor configured to capture environmental information about the ground around a work machine, a machine operating sensor configured to capture operation information of the work machine, and a stability analyzer. The stability analyzer may be configured receiving the environmental information and the operation information, prospectively identifying zones with stability issues based on the environmental information, and identifying active stability conditions of the work machine based on the operation information.

A milling machine may have a frame, first and second ground engagement members connected through respective, vertically adjustable leg columns to a front end of the frame, and third and fourth ground engagement members connected through respective, vertically adjustable leg columns to a rear end of the frame. Each vertically adjustable leg column includes a hydraulic cylinder connecting the frame and the associated ground engagement member. A milling drum is attached to the frame between the front and rear ends. At least one pair of the leg columns connected to the front end of the frame or the leg columns connected to the rear end of the frame includes an accumulator associated with each of the at least one pair of leg columns, a fluid conduit fluidly connecting a bore end of each of the hydraulic cylinders to the associated accumulator, and a control valve disposed in the fluid conduit and configured to control a flow of fluid between the hydraulic cylinders and the associated accumulators.

Milling machine having a hydraulic dampening system

A milling machine includes a milling rotor, at least one leg, a grade sensor, and a control circuit. The milling rotor is configured to engage a surface beneath the milling machine. The at least one leg is controllable to raise and lower the milling machine. The grade sensor is configured to sense a position indicative of a cut depth of the milling rotor, and the control circuit is configured to receive data from the grade sensor. The control circuit is also configured to: identify a distance from the milling rotor to the surface based on a selected position of the at least one leg; identify a value associated with a detected condition using the grade sensor while the at least one leg is at the selected position; and calibrate the grade sensor by associating the identified distance from the milling rotor to the surface and the identified value.

A spray system for a cold planer machine includes a spray bank disposed inside a housing and arranged to spray fluid directed at a drum and a spray controller. The spray controller is configured to receive an indication of either one of a milling operation and a plunge cut operation is occurring and actuate fluid spray via the spray bank based at least in part on the received indication.

Automatic water spray milling for cold planer

A cold planer machine may include a frame, a ground engaging member, a retracting vertical actuator system to raise and lower the frame, and a housing. The housing includes a vertical wall movable relative to the frame and a position detector to determine a relative vertical distance between the vertical wall and the frame. A drum in the housing is connected to the frame and rotates about a drum axis to plane the road surface. A spray bank disposed inside the housing is arranged to spray a fluid at the drum. A controller is configured to actuate fluid spray via the spray bank based at least in part on determining that the relative vertical distance is above a first threshold height value.

A weight sensing system for a pneumatic compactor is provided. The weight sensing system includes a pressure sensor in communication with a pneumatic cylinder. The pressure sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of a pressure exerted on the pneumatic cylinder. Further, a controller is communicably coupled to the pressure sensor. The controller is configured to receive the signal indicative of the pressure exerted on the pneumatic cylinder. The controller is also configured to determine a compaction weight of the pneumatic compactor based on the received signal, a weight distribution on the pneumatic compactor, and a fixed volume of the pneumatic cylinder.
