A lighting device having small light sources on a movable support assembly. Light sources are integrated into the side edges of the device on an assembly that coincides with the housing shape, to provide a particularly narrow and low-profile arrangement. Lights sources may be arranged in an array on a common printed circuit board. Optic elements are included to redirect and focus light. The light support assembly may be pivotable, translatable and tiltable to allow for adjustment to enhance lighting uniformity in multiple directions. Accordingly, a single device can accommodate a broad range of lighting needs, the undesirable 'bug eye' appearance is avoided in many situations, and even when the support assembly is tilted/rotated, the mounting of the lighting arrays on the sides, and the turning and/or tilting of the lighting arrays predominantly within the envelope of the housing contributes to avoidance of an undesirable 'bug eye' appearance.

Lighting assembly

Apparatus embodying the invention includes first and second motors coupled to a carriage assembly for moving the carriage assembly back and forth between first and second end points. The first motor is for developing a force to drive the carriage in one direction and the second motor is for developing a force to drive the carriage in an opposite, second direction. When the first motor causes the movement of the carriage in one direction, the slowing, stopping and reversal of the carriage is achieved by varying the power supplied to the second motor relative to the power supplied to the first motor until the force exerted by the second motor first equals and then exceeds the force exerted by the second motor. So operated, the carriage motion is well controlled and exhibits little, if any, backlash.

Reduced backlash translating system

An upflow or downflow furnace comprising a housing; a heat exchanger section in the housing, a blower section in the housing, and a blower deck in the housing having an upward side and a downward side. The heat exchanger section includes at least one heat exchanger and the blower section includes a blower for moving air through the heat exchanger section. The blower deck separates the blower section and the heat exchanger section. The blower deck includes an aperture and means, in proximity to the aperture, for either mounting the blower to the downward side of the blower deck for an upflow furnace configuration or mounting the blower to the upward side of the blower deck for a downflow furnace configuration.
