A glass having from greater than or equal to about 0.1 mol. % to less than or equal to about 20 mol. % HoO, and one or more chromophores selected from V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Se, Pr, Nd, Er, Yb, and combinations thereof. The amount of HoO(mol. %) is greater than or equal to 0.7(CeO(mol. %)+PrO(mol. %)+ErO(mol. %)). The glass can include one or more fluorescent ions selected from Cu, Sn, Ce, Eu, Tb, Tm, and combinations thereof in addition to, or in place of the chromophores. The glass can also include multiple fluorescent ions.

Multichroic glasses

A photochromic glass, comprising: (i) a glass matrix that, comprising in mol percent (mol %) based on oxides: 66 mol %≤SiO≤75 mol %; 8 mol %≤BO≤13 mol %; mol %≤AlO≤7 mol %; 1.5 mol %≤PO≤6 mol %, mol %≤NaO≤5.5 mol %; 3 mol %≤KO≤9.5 mol %; 0 mol %≤MgO≤4 mol %; 0 mol %≤LiO≤0.05 mol %; 0 mol %≤BaO≤0.05 mol %; 0 mol %≤CaO≤0.05 mole %; wherein the amount of (LiO+BO+CaO≤0.1 mole %); and (ii)) a plurality of photochromic agents, comprising in mol percent (%) with respect to the glass matrix: 0.07%≤Ag≤0.15%; 0.14%≤Cl≤0.25%; 0.025%≤Br≤0.04%; 0.0065%≤CuO≤0.015%, and wherein CuO/Ag≤0.22.

Photochromic glass and photochromic glass windows

Deadfront articles that include a tactile element formed on a first surface of a substrate and a visual element disposed on a second surface of the substrate opposite the first surface. The tactile element is positioned on the first surface of the substrate in a complimentary fashion to the visual element disposed on the second surface of the substrate. The tactile element may include a surface roughness portion having a surface roughness different than the surface roughness of an area bordering the surface roughness portion. The deadfront articles may be incorporated into an automobile interior to provide a visual and haptic display interface for a user.

A tinted glass composition and glass article including the same, the composition including: about 45 mol % to about 80 mol % SiO; about 6 mol % to about 22 mol % AlO; 0 mol % to about 25 mol % BO; about 7 mol % to about 25 mol % of at least one alkaline earth oxide selected from MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, and combinations thereof, about 0.5 mol % to about 20 mol % CuO; 0 mol % to about 6 mol % SnO, SnO, or a combination thereof, 0 mol % to about 1.0 mol % C; 0 mol % to about 5 mol % LaO; and 0 mol % to about 10 mol % PbO, and that is substantially free of alkali metal.

Tinted aluminosilicate glass compositions and glass articles including same preliminary class

The disclosure relates to highly temperable colored glass compositions. The colored glass compositions have high coefficients of thermal expansion and high Young's moduli that advantageously absorb in the ultraviolet and/or blue wavelength ranges. Methods of making such glasses are also provided.

Colored glasses with improved tempering capabilities

A method of making a glass sheet comprises laminating a high CTE core glass to a low CTE clad glass at high temperatures and allowing the laminate to cool creating compressive stress in the clad glass, and then ion exchanging the laminate to increase the compressive stress in the outer near surface regions of the clad glass. The core glass may include ions that exchange with ion in the clad glass to increase the compressive stress in inner surface regions of the clad glass adjacent to the clad glass/core glass interfaces. The glass laminate may be formed and laminated using a fusion forming and laminating process and fusion formable and ion exchangeable glass compositions.

Laminated and ion-exchanged strengthened glass laminates

Computer-implemented methods and apparatus are provided for predicting/estimating (i) a non-equilibrium viscosity for at least one given time point in a given temperature profile for a given glass composition, (ii) at least one temperature profile that will provide a given non-equilibrium viscosity for a given glass composition, or (iii) at least one glass composition that will provide a given non-equilibrium viscosity for a given time point in a given temperature profile. The methods and apparatus can be used to predict/estimate stress relaxation in a glass article during forming as well as compaction, stress relaxation, and/or thermal sag or thermal creep of a glass article when the article is subjected to one or more post-forming thermal treatments.

A process for forming a textured 3-D glass-based substrate includes texturing a first surface of a glass-based substrate and shaping the glass-based substrate into a three-dimensional shape. The surface profile of the substrate is non-planar. In some embodiments, texturing the first surface of the glass-based substrate provides the first surface with an average roughness of 10 nm to 2000 nm.

Processes of making glass with textured surface and 3-D shape

Multicolored glass-based articles and methods of manufacture are disclosed. The method includes forming a glass-based part and exposing a first region to radiation and a second region to radiation such that the first and second regions have different sized metallic nanoparticles, resulting in a multicolored glass article.
