In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for forming battery tray for holding cylindrical cell batteries. The method includes forming a battery try including a base support having a generally flat bottom surface and multiple adjacent cylindrical cavities are formed within the base support, using a circle packing algorithm to form the cylindrical cavities. The adjacent cavities each have at least some interstitial cylindrical riser wall structures formed with a predetermined height to hold the cylindrical cell batteries. In another embodiment, the present invention allows for packing maximum energy density per layer. This allows lifetime and power output of a battery powered device to be optimized and/or increased.

Method for maximizing packing density with cylindrical objects in cylindrical cavities

Deployment of a moored undersea device is achieved by fixing a mooring line to an anchor, and allowing the mooring line to unwind from a winding reel. A winding reel control mechanism is responsive to underwater hydrostatic pressure to release the mooring line when the hydrostatic pressure exceeds a predetermined level. When the hydrostatic pressure falls below the predetermined level, the winding reel control mechanism prevents further pay out of the mooring line.

Automatic mooring line brake

A system includes a body portion having rear portion having a fluid intake port and a nose portion having a fluid discharge port. The body portion contains an omni-directional vibratory device, a pump, a fluid conduit that is coupled to the pump and the fluid discharge port, and a power source that is electrically connected to the vibratory device and the pump. The body portion may also contain control circuitry and two end caps rigidly fixed therein, wherein the fluid conduit passes through each end cap. The vibratory device and the pump may be activated by a sensor such as a hydrostatic pressure sensor, an accelerometer, or an altimeter. The body portion may also contain communications circuitry that remotely controls the vibratory device and the pump. The body portion is configured to house a payload such as a sensor system, a battery pack, or a ballast for anchoring.
