A method is provided for operating a station for simultaneous communication over: a first, Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) Radio Access Network (RAN) using a first carrier signal; and a second, Time Division Duplex (TDD) RAN using a second carrier signal at a higher frequency than a frequency of the first carrier signal, wherein transmissions from the station using the first carrier signal cause interference to reception at the station over the second, TDD RAN. The method comprises aligning a timing of transmissions from the station over the first, FDD RAN to a timing for transmissions from the station over the second, TDD RAN.

A structure of a transmission time frame for Time Division Duplex (TDD) two-way communication over a frequency bandwidth is provided. The transmission time frame is assigned for a first direction of communication and is temporally divided into a plurality of transmission symbols. A fraction of the frequency bandwidth for a selected transmission symbol from the plurality of transmission symbols is assigned to a second direction of communication, the second direction being opposite to the first direction.

A cyclic prefix is configured for transmissions on a cellular network using a Radio Access Technology based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). At a User Equipment (UE) of the cellular network, information is determined for calculating a delay spread for transmission symbols from a base station of the cellular network to the UE. A cyclic prefix for the transmissions is identified based on the determined information. A delay spread can be established from received transmission symbols by: determining a coherence bandwidth based on whether a channel coefficient for each of the transmission symbols varies more than a predefined threshold, the delay spread being established using the determined coherence bandwidth; and/or determining a relationship between a cyclic prefix associated with the transmission symbols and a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio, SINR, for the received transmission symbols, the delay spread being established using the determined relationship.
