A mobile electronic device is described. The mobile electronic device includes a circuit board and a battery. The circuit board has opposing first and second peripheral edges. The first peripheral edge has a first cutout and the second peripheral edge has a second cutout. The battery is located adjacent to the circuit board and has opposing first and second curved end portions. The first curved end portion extends at least partially through the first cutout. The second curved end portion extends at least partially through the second cutout.

A circuit assembly () includes a first circuit substrate () defining a first major face () and a second circuit substrate () defining a second major face (). A plurality of electrical components () can be disposed on one or more of the first major face or the second major face. One or more substrate bridging members () are disposed between the first circuit substrate and the second circuit substrate. Each substrate bridging member can define a unitary structure having a first end bonded to the first major face and a second end bonded to the second major face to bridge the first circuit substrate and the second circuit substrate.

Advantageously, this structure provides an improved assembly capable of accepting two or more data cards in a small area and minimizes the possibility of damage to the data cards. Thus, a user can easily insert and place data cards in a device.

A mobile communication device is provided having a peripheral metal bezel made up of a plurality of metal segments. At least one of the metal segments on the bezel is configured to be a main antenna that is connected to a transceiver circuit via an antenna matching circuit. Proximate to the main antenna is another metal segment on the metal bezel that is configured to be a capacitance proximity sensor. The capacitance proximity sensor, in conjunction with a capacitance sensing circuit provide information to the circuitry within the mobile communication device to tune the antenna matching circuit to impedance match the transceiver with the antenna.

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing an electronic device () that includes a back housing () at least partially formed from a plurality of discrete antenna elements () and an antenna switching module () for selectively coupling two or more of the antenna elements to an antenna feed (). The coupled antenna elements form an antenna for transmitting and/or receiving wireless communication signals. The antenna switching module includes a plurality of switches () configured to selectively couple together two or more of the antenna elements; a plurality of electrical posts () coupled to the switches; a plurality of radio frequency chokes () respectively coupled to the electrical posts; and a biasing module () coupled to the radio frequency chokes for selectively applying a bias voltage to the switches.
