A cell search and synchronization method in a wireless communication system providing at least one cell having a frequency span in the frequency domain, the method includes: defining, for a said cell, a plurality of resources within the frequency span and within a defined time frame for transmitting a synchronization signal wherein a resource is characterised by a location in the frequency domain and a location in the time domain; and transmitting the synchronization signal in more than one of the plurality of resources.

Synchronization signals in 5G

Wireless communication where a wireless network transmits a control channel message to a terminal. A receiver to receive the control channel message located in one or more control channel elements within a plurality of search spaces, each of the plurality of search spaces being configured from a plurality of control channel elements within a time interval for scheduling decision by using a pseudorandom function. A decoder to decode the control channel message by making a selection of locations for blind decoding the plurality of search spaces within the sub-frame, using the pseudorandom function, wherein, the pseudo-random function is a function based on a sum of a first value and a second value, wherein the first value is a pseudo-random factor, and the second value is based on an aggregation level and a total of control channel elements in a sub-frame.

Control channels for wireless communication

A 5G wireless communication system to transmit a beam ID or part of a beam ID by joint design of a secondary synchronization sequence (SSS) and Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH). In 5G during the initial access procedure a terminal will try to obtain fundamental system information/identifiers which are required for future signal transmission/reception activities. Due to the extensive usage of beamforming techniques in 5G, besides identifying a cell ID and obtaining time/frequency synchronization, the terminal may identify a beam ID during the initial access procedure. Therefore, a beam ID is transmitted as part of synchronization signals (SS) broadcast by a gNB, more particularly as part of SSS or as part of PBCH. The synchronization signals may be transmitted as a set of SS blocks, each having an index, which may be a time index, for facilitating identification.

Synchronization and broadcast signal design for 5G

A wireless communication system, including: a device configured to: store a access parameter; transit a Radio Resource Control (RRC) CONNECTED mode to an RRC IDLE mode; and transmit a first message for the access request when in the IDLE mode and storing the access parameter; and a base station configured to: receive the first message; and after receiving the first message, transmit to the terminal a second message indicating that the access parameter is valid or third message indicating the access request is rejected.

The present invention relates to a method for communicating in a network, the network comprising at least a first cell and a second cell including respectively a first primary station having a first antenna array dedicated to the first cell and a second primary station having a second antenna array dedicated to the second cell, for communicating with a plurality of secondary stations, the method comprising the step of (a) providing with a co-operative beamforming transmission from the first and second primary stations to at least one first secondary station, wherein step (a) includes (a) the first secondary station signaling at least one channel matrix to at least one of the first and second primary stations, and (a) the first and second primary stations applying a precoding matrix across both the first antenna array and the second antenna array, and wherein the precoding matrix comprises a first vector for the first cell and a second vector for the second cell, the precoding matrix being based on the at least one channel matrix.

Antenna configuration for co-operative beamforming

A radio station comprises means for allocating resources for communication with at least one other station, and including means for mapping data to be transmitted from at least the radio station to the at least one other station, and means for applying a cyclic shift to the data mapping, wherein this cyclic shift is adjusted depending on the number of data blocks to be mapped. Method and device for allocating resource in an OFDM network

A buffer status reporting scheme for a terminal () wishing to transmit data simultaneously in multiple RATs of a wireless communication network, which enables the co-ordination of multiple base stations () of different RATs (e.g. LTE eNB, UMTS base station, WiFi access point, etc.) with the assistance of the terminal () in order to achieve efficient radio resource scheduling for multi-RAT multi-flow aggregation in uplink. A radio bearer is configured for multi-RAT multi-flow aggregation by the network, and multiple logical channel IDs are assigned to this RB that may be associated with different RATs. Logical channels associated with a certain RAT (or a given set of RATs) may be grouped into one logical channel group for radio resource scheduling reason. The terminal () performs buffer status reporting, according to the configuration, on all involved RATs and sends reports/indications to one or more involved base stations ().

Wireless communication in multi-rat system

Wireless communication method where a wireless network transmits a control channel message to a terminal. At the wireless network side: configuring a plurality of search spaces, each of the plurality are configured from a plurality of control channel elements within a sub-frame by using a pseudorandom function; determining one or more control channel elements to use for transmission of the control channel message from the plurality of search spaces; and transmitting the control channel message. At the terminal side: decoding the control channel message by making a selection of locations for blind decoding the search space within the sub-frame, using the pseudorandom function. A radio station () receives a first signal (R) indicative of a scheduled resource which will be used to transmit a second signal (D, D) to the radio station (). In response to receiving the first signal (R), the radio station () is adapted to receive the second signal (D, D) using the scheduled resource and, prior to receiving the second signal (D, D), transmit an indication of received signal quality (CQI).

Signal quality reporting

The present invention relates to the signaling of channel quality information in a multi-beam transmission system, wherein a plurality of beams are simultaneously transmitted and a plurality of sets of channel quality information are transmitted for controlling independently the transmission rate on the different beams. Determined are beams with a different quality resulting in different effects of errors in the transmissions of the channel quality information for the beams. Said different effects are exploited for reducing a signaling overhead of the channel quality information for the beams.

Efficient CQI signaling in multi-beam MIMO systems

A packet data transmission system comprises primary stations (PS) having signal transmitting and receiving means and antennas (PAto PA) for propagating downlink signals and receiving uplink signals and a plurality of secondary stations (SS) able to roam within the coverage areas of the primary stations. Each secondary station (SS) has signal transmitting and receiving means, a predetermined number of antennas (SAto SA), and means for monitoring its radio environment. Information about the radio environment is relayed as an uplink signal to the respective primary station which modifies its mode of transmission of packet data signals. The secondary station in response to the modified mode of transmission of the downlink signals adapts its receiver resources to process the packet data signals and effect cancellation of any interference.

Packet data transmission in a MIMO system

An access method of a device () such as an MTC device to a network () which allows the transmission of small data packets without the need to read all the System Information normally required to make an initial network access. The device () may notify the network that an access request is occurring from a device that was either specifically allowed to use a stored access configuration or is accessing the cell using modified system information being broadcast by the cell. Such notification may be implicit in the characteristics (choice of preamble, timing, frequency and/or repetition) of the access request. The network, preferably having knowledge of the method being used by the device to access the network, can either reject this access or accept it depending on whether the access was from a stored configuration or read from System Information.

A method of communicating between a primary station and a plurality of secondary stations is described. According to one aspect, the secondary station monitors a control channel search space for a control message from a primary station intended for the communication device. According to an aspect, the control message is indicative of a resource allocated to the secondary station for communicating with the primary station and the resource corresponds to a component carrier. The secondary station determines a control channel from the control channel search space having the control message intended for the secondary station and determines, based on a presence of the control channel on a specific component carrier, the indication of a resource set from a plurality of resources sets in which the resource allocated to the secondary station is located.

A wireless communication method wherein: a terminal () transmits first and second data streams to a network; wherein the first data stream is associated with both a first cell and a second cell of a plurality of cells () serving the terminal, and the second data stream is associated with the second cell; and the terminal () transmits at least one signalling message including first information relating to data to be sent in the first data stream and/or second information relating to data to be sent in the second data stream to at least one of the first cell and the second cell based on predetermined rules corresponding to association between cells and data streams.
