A method in a telecommunications system including a Data Network, DN, a base station, a connection via the base station from the DN to a User Equipment, UE, executing a UE application producing application data, and an algorithm entity on the DN, wherein the base station transmits network configuration information to a DN application executing on the algorithm entity, the DN application produces and transmits a filtering configuration based on the network configuration information to the UE for use in filtering the application data before transmission to the algorithm entity, allowing the UE to produce application data filtered according to the filtering configuration, and the connection transmits the filtered application data to the algorithm entity.

A cell search and synchronization method in a wireless communication system providing at least one cell having a frequency span in the frequency domain, the method includes: defining, for a said cell, a plurality of resources within the frequency span and within a defined time frame for transmitting a synchronization signal wherein a resource is characterised by a location in the frequency domain and a location in the time domain; and transmitting the synchronization signal in more than one of the plurality of resources.

Control channels for wireless communication

A 5G wireless communication system to transmit a beam ID or part of a beam ID by joint design of a secondary synchronization sequence (SSS) and Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH). In 5G during the initial access procedure a terminal will try to obtain fundamental system information/identifiers which are required for future signal transmission/reception activities. Due to the extensive usage of beamforming techniques in 5G, besides identifying a cell ID and obtaining time/frequency synchronization, the terminal may identify a beam ID during the initial access procedure. Therefore, a beam ID is transmitted as part of synchronization signals (SS) broadcast by a gNB, more particularly as part of SSS or as part of PBCH. The synchronization signals may be transmitted as a set of SS blocks, each having an index, which may be a time index, for facilitating identification.

Method and device for allocating resource in an OFDM network

A buffer status reporting scheme for a terminal () wishing to transmit data simultaneously in multiple RATs of a wireless communication network, which enables the co-ordination of multiple base stations () of different RATs (e.g. LTE eNB, UMTS base station, WiFi access point, etc.) with the assistance of the terminal () in order to achieve efficient radio resource scheduling for multi-RAT multi-flow aggregation in uplink. A radio bearer is configured for multi-RAT multi-flow aggregation by the network, and multiple logical channel IDs are assigned to this RB that may be associated with different RATs. Logical channels associated with a certain RAT (or a given set of RATs) may be grouped into one logical channel group for radio resource scheduling reason. The terminal () performs buffer status reporting, according to the configuration, on all involved RATs and sends reports/indications to one or more involved base stations ().

Wireless communication in multi-rat system

Wireless communication method where a wireless network transmits a control channel message to a terminal. A radio station () receives a first signal (R) indicative of a scheduled resource which will be used to transmit a second signal (D, D) to the radio station (). In response to receiving the first signal (R), the radio station () is adapted to receive the second signal (D, D) using the scheduled resource and, prior to receiving the second signal (D, D), transmit an indication of received signal quality (CQI).

Signal quality reporting

The present invention relates to the signaling of channel quality information in a multi-beam transmission system, wherein a plurality of beams are simultaneously transmitted and a plurality of sets of channel quality information are transmitted for controlling independently the transmission rate on the different beams. Determined are beams with a different quality resulting in different effects of errors in the transmissions of the channel quality information for the beams. Said different effects are exploited for reducing a signaling overhead of the channel quality information for the beams.

Efficient CQI signaling in multi-beam MIMO systems

A packet data transmission system comprises primary stations (PS) having signal transmitting and receiving means and antennas (PAto PA) for propagating downlink signals and receiving uplink signals and a plurality of secondary stations (SS) able to roam within the coverage areas of the primary stations. Each secondary station (SS) has signal transmitting and receiving means, a predetermined number of antennas (SAto SA), and means for monitoring its radio environment. Information about the radio environment is relayed as an uplink signal to the respective primary station which modifies its mode of transmission of packet data signals. The secondary station in response to the modified mode of transmission of the downlink signals adapts its receiver resources to process the packet data signals and effect cancellation of any interference.

Packet data transmission in a MIMO system

An access method of a device () such as an MTC device to a network () which allows the transmission of small data packets without the need to read all the System Information normally required to make an initial network access. The device () may notify the network that an access request is occurring from a device that was either specifically allowed to use a stored access configuration or is accessing the cell using modified system information being broadcast by the cell. Such notification may be implicit in the characteristics (choice of preamble, timing, frequency and/or repetition) of the access request. The network, preferably having knowledge of the method being used by the device to access the network, can either reject this access or accept it depending on whether the access was from a stored configuration or read from System Information.

A method of communicating between a primary station and a plurality of secondary stations is described. According to one aspect, the secondary station monitors a control channel search space for a control message from a primary station intended for the communication device. According to an aspect, the control message is indicative of a resource allocated to the secondary station for communicating with the primary station and the resource corresponds to a component carrier. The secondary station determines a control channel from the control channel search space having the control message intended for the secondary station and determines, based on a presence of the control channel on a specific component carrier, the indication of a resource set from a plurality of resources sets in which the resource allocated to the secondary station is located.
