A casting core assembly for a gas turbine engine component according to an implementation includes a skin core corresponding to a first cooling passage of an airfoil. The first cooling passage includes a first section and a tip flag section joined at a first bend. The skin core includes a first portion corresponding to the first section and a tip flag portion corresponding to the tip flag section. The skin core includes at least one arcuate slot corresponding to at least one turning vane of the airfoil. A method of forming an airfoil for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Cooling arrangement for gas turbine engine component

An airfoil for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes an airfoil section extending in a radial direction from a root section to a tip portion. The airfoil section has an external wall and an internal wall. The airfoil section establishes an internal cooling arrangement including a first cooling passage having a first section and a tip flag section. The tip flag section extends in the chordwise direction along the tip portion from the first section. The first section includes a plurality of branched paths established by at least one turning vane.

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section that provides first and second compressor stages that are configured to respectively provide first and second cooling fluids. The first compressor stage has a higher pressure than the second compressor stage. The gas turbine engine further includes a component that has platform with an internal cooling passage fed by first and second inlets that respectively receive fluid from the first and second cooling sources. The second inlet is downstream from the first inlet.

Platform serpentine re-supply

Airfoils bodies having a first core cavity and a second core cavity located within the airfoil body that is adjacent the first core cavity. The second core cavity is defined by a first cavity wall, a second cavity wall, a first exterior wall, and a second exterior wall, wherein the first cavity wall is located between the second core cavity and the first core cavity and the first and second exterior walls are exterior walls of the airfoil body. The first cavity wall includes a first surface angled toward the first exterior wall and a second surface angled toward the second exterior wall. At least one first cavity impingement hole is formed within the first surface and a central ridge extends into the second core cavity from at least one of the first cavity wall and the second wall and divides the second core cavity into a two-vortex chamber.

Airfoil having internal hybrid cooling cavities

An airfoil may include an airfoil body that defines a skin chamber, a skin chamber outlet opening, and a tip flag chamber. In various embodiments, the skin chamber is in fluidic communication with the tip flag chamber via the skin chamber outlet opening. In various embodiments, the airfoil body further defines an outlet hole disposed on at least one of a trailing edge and a pressure side of the airfoil. The tip flag chamber may be in fluidic communication with the outlet hole (e.g., cooling circuit air in the tip flag chamber may exit the airfoil via the outlet hole). In various embodiments, the tip flag chamber extends parallel and directly adjacent to the outermost tip of the airfoil.

An airfoil core includes a first core portion that has a hybrid skin core, a tip flag core, and a trailing edge core. A second core portion has a serpentine core and a leading edge core.

A component includes a component body. The component further includes a first passage disposed in the component body. The first passage includes a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The component further includes a second passage. The second passage extends from the second end of the first passage. The second passage includes a turn. The component further includes a third passage. The third passage extends from the second end of the first passage. The component further includes a first projection extending from a passage surface of the component body within the first passage. The first projection is disposed between the first and the second end of the first passage and is configured to direct debris transiting the first passage away from the second passage and into the third passage.

Component having a dirt tolerant passage turn

A gaspath component for a gas turbine engine includes a platform. A body extends outward from the platform and includes at least one internal cooling passage. The internal cooling passage includes at least one particulate redirection feature defined at an end of the body opposite the platform. The at least one particulate redirection feature includes a first face oblique to and facing an expected flow of fluid through the internal cooling passage and defines at least one corresponding opening.

A turbomachine airfoil element comprises an airfoil having: an inboard end; an outboard end; a leading edge; a trailing edge; a pressure side; and a suction side. A span between the inboard end and the outboard end is 1.75-2.20 inches. A chord length at 50% span is 1.05-1.35 inches. At least two of: a first mode resonance frequency is 2400&#xb1;10% Hz; a second mode resonance frequency is 4950&#xb1;10% Hz; a third mode resonance frequency is 7800&#xb1;10% Hz; a fourth mode resonance frequency is 8700&#xb1;10% Hz; and a fifth mode resonance frequency is 12500&#xb1;10% Hz.

Airfoils for gas turbine engines are described. The airfoils include an airfoil body extending between a platform and a tip, the airfoil body having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a pressure side, and a suction side, a serpentine cavity formed within the airfoil body and having an up-pass serpentine cavity, a down-pass serpentine cavity, and a trailing edge cavity, and a dead-end tip flag cavity extending in a direction between the leading edge and the trailing edge, the dead-end tip flag cavity arrange between the serpentine cavity and the tip, wherein the dead-end tip flag cavity ends at a dead-end wall located at a position between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the airfoil body.

A turbine blade for a gas turbine engine having a plurality of cooling holes defined therein, the plurality of cooling holes are located in an airfoil of the turbine blade according to the coordinates of Table 1.

Methods for forming airfoil, cores for forming airfoil, and airfoils for gas turbine engines are described. The methods include forming an airfoil body about a core assembly, the core assembly comprising at least one core structure having a radially extending purge slot protrusion extending from a portion of the at least one core structure, removing the core assembly from the airfoil body to form one or more internal cavities, wherein at least one internal cavity has a cavity extension define by the purge slot protrusion, and forming a squealer pocket in a tip of the formed airfoil body, wherein a cavity purge slot is formed at the cavity extension to fluidly connect the respect internal cavity with the squealer pocket. The radially extending protrusion has a radial height that is equal to or less than five times a width thereof.

Airfoils and core assemblies for gas turbine engines and methods of manufacture

Methods for forming airfoils, core assemblies, and airfoils for gas turbine engines are described. The methods include forming an airfoil body about a core assembly configured to define one or more internal cavities of the airfoil body, the core assembly comprising at least core structure having a purge slot protrusion extending from a portion of the core structure, removing the core assembly from the airfoil body to form one or more internal cavities, wherein at least one internal cavity has a cavity extension define by the purge slot protrusion, and forming a squealer pocket in a tip of the formed airfoil body, wherein a cavity purge slot is formed at the cavity extension to fluidly connect the respect internal cavity with the squealer pocket.

An airfoil includes pressure and suction side walls that extend in a chord-wise direction between a leading edge and a trailing edge. The pressure and suction side walls extend in a radial direction between a platform and a tip to provide an exterior airfoil surface. A cooling passage is arranged between the pressure and suction side walls and has a first passage along the pressure side wall and a second passage along the suction side wall. The first passage is configured to receive cooling air from a cooling air source radially inward of the platform. The second passage is configured to receive cooling air from the first passage near the tip. A root flag passage is configured to purge the cooling air from the second passage near the trailing edge.

A method of forming an airfoil, includes forming a hybrid skin core, a tip flag core, and a trailing edge core. The hybrid skin core, tip flag core, and trailing edge core are connected to form a first core portion. A leading edge core and a serpentine core are formed. The first core portion, the leading edge core, and the serpentine core are assembled together to form an airfoil core. An airfoil is formed around the airfoil core.
