A system for lifting a load via a spreader bar includes a spreader bar and a swivel lug assembly. The swivel lug assembly includes an upper swivel, a lower swivel, and a load pin extending between a pair of load pin holes in the upper swivel and the lower swivel. The upper swivel is pivotable relative to the lower swivel about the load pin. The spreader bar includes two opposing sides each having a height, and spreader bar pin holes in each of the sides. The spreader bar pin holes are located at a midpoint of the height of each of the sides. The load pin is detachably attached to the first swivel lug assembly through the pair of load pin holes in the upper swivel and the lower swivel in order to releasably attach the swivel lug assembly to the spreader bar via two opposing spreader bar pin holes.

Several embodiments of an end cap are provided for use with a spreader bar system for distributing the lift force of a load across multiple points. The end cap includes a receptacle shaped to receive the spreader bar. The receptacle comprises an outer end and a pinch bolt located on an outer surface of the receptacle. A load plate abuts the outer end of the receptacle, and is reinforced by a brace. A lifting lug extends from the load plate and has at least a first aperture. The aperture is shaped to receive a corresponding shackle that is configured to connect to a sling for lifting the spreader bar. A visual indicator on a surface of the lifting lug and positioned between the first aperture and the load plate defines a predetermined minimum angle between the spreader bar and the sling when the spreader bar is lifted via the sling.

End cap and spreader bar system and method for sizing same

Several embodiments of an end cap are provided for use with a spreader bar system for distributing the lift force of a load across multiple points. The end cap comprises at least one lifting lug with the shackles positioned therethrough, along with at least one visual indicium for keeping a minimum of a 45 degree lift angle. Additionally, the end cap is provided with a pinch bolt system for easy assembly as well as a flat, horizontal foot plate located beneath the end cap for quick alignment. A four-point embodiment duplicates these features and positions two end caps at a 90 degree perpendicular angle atop a support plate. Additionally, a method of use is provided for pre-calculating maximum load so as to reduce the computation to a single chart.
