A liquid spraying system having an electrically operated pulse width modulation control for directing a modulated liquid discharge based upon frequency and duty cycle of a reciprocally operated liquid control valve. The spray nozzle assembly includes a nozzle body having an inwardly converging conical chamber communicating between an upstream liquid directing plate and a downstream liquid discharge passage. The liquid directing plate is formed with a one or more rings of circumferentially spaced liquid directing passages angularly oriented with respect to a central liquid flow axis of the nozzle body for directing liquid discharging from said nozzle body discharge passage into a predetermined conical spray pattern.

Pulse width modulating spraying system

A solenoid-operated liquid spray gun having a lightweight, corrosion resistant plastic housing which enables the spray gun to be mounted on and be more easily moved by robotic transfer devices. To effect the necessary flux loop within the plastic-housed spray gun for reciprocating a valve plunger in response to energization of the solenoid coil, the spray gun includes a radially disposed flux-directing member adjacent at least one end of the coil. The flux-directing member, while extending radially outwardly a distance less than the diameter of solenoid coil, effects efficient flux direction for operating the solenoid notwithstanding the lack of a magnetic conductive medium provided by the metal housing of conventional solenoid-operated spray guns.

Lightweight solenoid-operated spray gun

A low pressure blower operated airknife having a housing with an elongated primary air discharge orifice for directing a narrow width curtain of air. The airknife includes an air-augmenting shroud which defines auxiliary discharge orifices on opposite longitudinal sides of the primary air discharge orifice such that air discharging from the primary discharge orifice creates a low pressure condition adjacent the auxiliary air discharge orifices for drawing additional air through the auxiliary discharge orifices which augments the velocity and volume of the discharging air current without the necessity for increasing the air inlet pressure or blower size. The shroud may take alternative forms, including pairs of wings disposed on opposite sides of the primary discharge orifice or hollow structures that surround the airknife housing. The airknife further is adapted for low pressure direction and application of air laden particles, such as preatomized liquid particles.

Disclosed is a process for preparing a metal body via metal powder molding techniques. First and second component parts are conventionally injection molded from a metal powder molding material. The first ultrasonic part is molded to have an ultrasonic energy director surface, which may be, for example, a rib having a triangular cross section. In accordance with the disclosed process, the first and second component parts then are ultrasonically welded to form a green assembly, and this green assembly is debound and sintered in accordance with conventional metal powder molding techniques to form a metal body. The metal body thus formed will be hermetically sealed along the ultrasonic weld. The process of the invention thus may be employed in the preparation of metal objects that require a hermetic seal, such as fluid flow nozzles, pressure vessels, and the like.

Spray nozzle body

A spray nozzle and method of assembly onto the threaded end of a supply line or like by use of a conventional wrench. The spray nozzle has an elongated body formed with an axial flow passageway, a threaded upstream end, a wrench engaging downstream end, and a radial locating and support flange intermediate its upstream and downstream ends for supporting the nozzle on the wrench with the downstream end in operative relation to the gripping elements of the wrench and with the threaded upstream end extending outwardly of the wrench for positioning into threaded engagement with the threaded supply line by use of the wrench. The spray nozzle has an elongated discharge orifice and the support flange has flats formed parallel to the long axis of the discharge orifice to aid in orientating the nozzle.
