Lost circulation materials may be particles having a core-shell structure. Said particles may include: a core comprising an expandable material; and a shell around the core, the shell comprising an outer permeable membrane, an inner permeable membrane, and a hardenable material between the outer and inner permeable membranes; and wherein the core-shell structure is folded. The particles may be initially folded where, upon exposure to a stimulus, the core expands in volume (which unfolds the particles) and the shell increases in strength. The expanded particles can then clog large openings/apertures in the formation.

The present disclosure describes methods and systems for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir. One method for downhole well integrity reconstruction in a hydrocarbon reservoir includes: positioning, a laser head at a first subterranean location, wherein the laser head is attached to a tubular inside of a wellbore; directing, by the laser head, a laser beam towards a leak on the wellbore; and sealing the leak using the laser beam.

The intelligent drilling system includes an inner drill pipe adapted to rotate around a longitudinal axis in a transversal plane of a wellbore to advance a drill bit during a drilling operation, an external drill string shield surrounding the inner drill pipe and coupled to the inner drill pipe via at least one bearing system, the at least one bearing system adapted to decouple the external drill string shield from a rotational motion of the inner drill pipe in the transversal plane such that the external drill string shield remains substantially stationary during the drilling operation, and an in-situ sensing system disposed on an interior wall of the external drill string shield to measure at least one downhole parameter of the wellbore.

The aggregated particles have a larger effective size and can seal large openings/apertures in the subsurface that cause lost circulation during a wellbore drilling operation.

A rig site may include a rotary table within a rig floor above a wellbore. A fabric sheet rolled into two symmetrical rolls is disposed on the rig floor. A pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is coaxial with the rotary table. A casing string, to be lowered in the wellbore, includes a first casing joint at a bottom of the casing string is a modified float joint. The pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is attached to a sleeve of the modified float joint. Union units are provided above the rotary table. The union units close the fabric sheet around the casing string to form a fabric-nested casing string within the wellbore. A cement slurry is pumped down the casing string and into a space between the fabric sheet and the casing string to cement the fabric-nested casing string to the wellbore.

A drilling system measures a fluid level in a wellbore. The drilling system may include a drill pipe and a sensor sleeve attached to the drill pipe. The sensor sleeve may include a transmitter that transmits a sensing signal in a direction of a fluid in the wellbore, a receiver that receives the sensing signal after the sensing signal is reflected on a surface of the fluid, and a repeater that determines a distance between the sensor sleeve and the fluid level from the transmitted and received sensing signal. The fluid level in the wellbore may be calculated using the distance determined by the repeater and a distance between the sensor sleeve and a surface of the wellbore.

A system for monitoring an annular fluid level may include a floating element disposed on a surface of a drilling fluid within an annulus of the well, during mud cap drilling operations. The system may also include an antenna disposed above the floating element. The antenna may be configured to transmit a first signal to the floating element, and to receive a second signal from the floating element in response to the first signal. The system may also include a processor configured to determine a time value that measures a time between a transmittal, by the antenna, of the first signal and a receipt, by the antenna, of the second signal. The processor may also determine a state of a drilling fluid level within the annulus based on the time value, and update a drilling program for the well based on the state of the drilling fluid level.

A method includes creating a chamber within an annulus between a wellbore casing and a drillpipe. An upper boundary of the chamber includes a seal and a lower boundary of the chamber includes a liquid surface and determining a volume of the chamber at a first time. The method further includes determining the volume of the chamber includes measuring, using a pressure gauge, a first pressure within the chamber, changing an amount of a gas in the chamber, and measuring, using the pressure gauge, a second pressure within the chamber. The method further includes determining a first volume of gas within the chamber based on the first and second pressure measurements and the change in the amount of gas, and determining a first fluid level based on the first volume of the chamber.

Systems and methods include a computer-implemented method can be used to make drilling tools from new wurtzite boron nitride (w-BN) superhard material. An ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature operation is performed on pure w-BN powder to synthesize w-BN and cubic boron nitride (c-BN) compact having a first size greater than particles of the pure w-BN powder. The ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature operation includes pressurizing the w-BN powder to a pressure of approximately 20 Gigapascal, heating the w-BN powder at a heating rate of 100° C./minute and cooling the w-BN powder at a cooling rate of 50° C./minute. The compact is cut to a second size smaller than the first size using laser cutting tools. The cut compact is bonded metallurgically, mechanically, or both metallurgically and mechanically onto a tool substrate to form the drilling tool.

A system having an instrumented cutter of a drill bit including an on-cutter sensor for monitoring drilling performance metrics while performing drilling operations based on offset well data and a computing device is disclosed. The computing device executes a model development system configured to use the drilling performance metrics, surface drilling parameters, and characteristics of the instrumented cutter to train a machine learning (ML) model. The trained ML model is used to optimize drilling parameters and predict drill bit performance in a current well.

A repairing assembly includes a housing, a packer, and a thermal spray assembly. The housing is attached to a wellbore string disposed within a wellbore with casing. The packer is coupled to the housing. The packer is set on a wall of the wellbore to bound a repair zone defined between the packer and an end of the housing opposite the packer. The housing or the packer includes a fluid channel in fluid communication with the wellbore string or an annulus of the wellbore. The thermal spray assembly is coupled to the housing and sprays a damaged section of the casing with a thermal spray to repair the damaged section. The housing flows an inert gas received from the wellbore string or the annulus of the wellbore and through the fluid channel into the repair zone until an oxygen in the repair zone is substantially removed from the repair zone.

A method includes introducing a drill string including a bottom hole assembly into a wellbore, wherein the bottom hole assembly includes a mounted 3D printing sub-assembly. A wellbore is drilled with the bottom hole assembly, and at least a portion of a casing is printed with the 3D printing sub-assembly while drilling the wellbore. A related system includes a drill string having a length of drill pipe and a bottom hole assembly disposed at a distal end of the length of drill pipe. A 3D printing sub-assembly is mounted on the bottom hole assembly, wherein the printing sub-assembly includes a printer housing and a 3D printing head mounted at the printer housing. A control guides the 3D printing head to print at least a portion of a casing at a location radially away from the central longitudinal axis of the drill string.
