A swirler for mixing fuel with air in a combustion engine includes a central axis, a swirler base with an upper surface, a central portion, a number of main swirler elements and a number of obstruction elements. The main swirler elements and the obstruction elements are located at the upper surface of the swirler base and are arranged around the central portion. The main swirler elements form a number of swirler slots configured for directing a fluid towards the central portion. Each swirler slot has a slot inlet and a slot outlet, wherein the slot outlet is located at a smaller radial distance from the central axis than the swirler inlet. Each obstruction element is located at a slot inlet and configured for forming a plurality of flow channels into the swirler slot.

Swirler for mixing fuel with air in a combustion engine

A fuel lance for a burner of a combustor has a fuel lance body defining a fuel flow passage and a liquid fuel tip attached thereto and in flow communication with fuel flow passage. The liquid fuel tip has a fuel outlet and an array of air passages having outlets which are arranged outside a blank sector of a circumference around the fuel outlet, the blank sector defined by an angle from 30&#xb0; to 160&#xb0;. A burner includes the fuel lance and the igniter and a main air flow passage to direct at least a part of a main air flow over the fuel lance and over the igniter, the blank sector has a centre-line angled between +120&#xb0; and &#x2212;120&#xb0; from a radial line from the axis and passing through the fuel lance. A method includes rotating the fuel lance between a start-up condition and a second condition.

Combustor burner arrangement

A combustion system for a gas turbine includes a combustion chamber having an end section and a pre-combustion section extending from the end section, a swirler device, an optional pilot burner device and a light emitting arrangement. Main fuel is injectable by the swirler device into an inner volume of the pre-combustion section. The main flame using main fuel is producible inside the inner volume. The pilot burner device is mounted to the end section of the combustion chamber such that a pilot fuel is injectable by the pilot burner device into the inner volume of the pre-combustion section, wherein a pilot flame using the pilot fuel is producible inside the inner volume for stabilizing the main flame. The light emitting arrangement emits an electromagnetic radiation into the inner volume, such that an energy input is generatable by the electromagnetic radiation for stabilizing the pilot flame and/or the main flame.

Supplementary laser firing for combustion stability

A combustion chamber for a gas turbine is provided. The combustion chamber has a pilot burner device, a fuel injector, an ignitor unit and an air blast injector. The pilot burner device has a pilot body with a pilot surface facing an inner volume of the combustion chamber. The fuel injector has a fuel outlet for injecting a fuel into the inner volume, wherein the fuel outlet is arranged at the pilot surface. The ignitor unit is arranged at the pilot surface such that fuel which passes the ignitor unit is ignitable. The air blast injector is adapted for injecting an air blast into the inner volume, wherein the air blast injector includes an air blast outlet arranged at the pilot surface such that the air blast is injectable in the direction to the fuel outlet and the ignitor unit for directing the fuel to the ignitor unit.

Air directed fuel injection

A combustion chamber for a gas turbine is provided. The combustion chamber has a pilot burner device, a fuel injector and an ignitor unit. The pilot burner device has a pilot body with a pilot surface which is facing an inner volume of the combustion chamber. The fuel injector has a fuel outlet for injecting a fuel into the inner volume. The ignitor unit is adapted for igniting the fuel inside the inner volume, wherein the ignitor unit is arranged at the pilot surface such that fuel which passes the ignitor unit is ignitable. The pilot body includes a recess, wherein the fuel outlet is arranged within the recess.
