An electronic device is described comprising an enclosure, wherein the enclosure comprises a cured epoxy resin composition comprising at least 50 volume % of electrically non-conductive thermally conductive inorganic particles. The enclosure may be a housing of a phone, laptop, or mouse. Alternatively, the enclosure may be a case for an electronic device. Also described are epoxy resin compositions and a method of making an enclosure for an electronic device.

Cured epoxy resin composition suitable for electronic device enclosure, articles, and methods

An electronic device is described comprising an enclosure, wherein the enclosure comprises a cured epoxy resin composition comprising at least 50 volume % of electrically non-conductive thermally conductive inorganic particles, wherein the inorganic particles are selected from alumina, boron nitride, silicon carbide, alumina trihydrate and mixtures thereof. The enclosure may be a housing of a phone, laptop, or mouse. Alternatively, the enclosure may be a case for an electronic device. Also described are epoxy resin compositions and a method of making an enclosure for an electronic device.

A fluoropolymer coating composition is described comprising an aqueous liquid medium, fluoropolymer particles dispersed in the aqueous liquid medium, and at least one aziridine compound. The aziridine compound comprises at least two aziridine groups (i.e. polyaziridine) or at least one aziridine group and at least one alkoxy silane group. In another embodiment, an article is described comprising a substrate wherein a surface of the substrate comprises a coating comprising fluoropolymer particles; and a reaction product of at least one aziridine compound comprising at least two aziridine groups or at least one aziridine group and at least one alkoxy silane group. The coating can be utilized as a primer for bonding a non-fluorinated substrate to a fluoropolymer film and/or the coating can be used as an (e.g. outer exposed) surface layer. In some embodiments, the article may be the (e.g. backside) film of a photovoltaic module.

A method of making conglomerate abrasive particles includes: providing agglomerate abrasive particles comprising mineral particles in a first vitreous binder; combining the agglomerate abrasive particles with a second vitreous binder material precursor to form precursor conglomerate abrasive particles; and heating the precursor conglomerate abrasive particles to convert the second vitreous binder material precursor into a second vitreous binder, different from the first vitreous binder, thereby forming the conglomerate abrasive particles. The first vitreous binder differs from the second vitreous binder by at least one of: i) elemental composition, or ii) an intrinsic physical property; and wherein the conglomerate abrasive particles can pass through a testing sieve having one-millimeter openings. Conglomerate abrasive particles preparable by the method, and abrasive articles containing them, are also disclosed.

Fluoropolymer coatings comprising aziridine compounds

Polyester polymers are described comprising polymerized units comprising a hydroxy functional aromatic group wherein the hydroxy group has been functionalized with an adhesion promoting group. In some embodiments, the polyester polymer comprises polymerized units have the general structure (A) wherein Land Lare independently divalent linking groups comprising an ester group; and Ris an adhesion promoting group bonded to the oxygen atom by means of an ionic or covalent bond. In other embodiments, film articles, laminates are described and methods of making functionalized polyester polymers are described.

Provided is a lapping carrier including a base carrier having a first major surface, a second major surface and at least one aperture for holding a workpiece. The aperture extends from the first major surface through the base carrier to the second major surface. The base carrier includes a first metal or a polymer. At least a portion of the first major surface or at least a portion of each of the first and the second major surfaces includes a polymeric region. In at least a portion of the polymeric region, at least one adhesion promoting layer is interposed between the polymeric region and the base carrier. The adhesion promoting layer includes an inorganic coating.

Provided is a double-sided lapping carrier comprising a base carrier having a first major surface, a second major surface and at least one aperture for holding a workpiece, said aperture extending from the first major surface through the base carrier to the second major surface, wherein the base carrier comprises a first metal, the circumference of said aperture is defined by a third surface of the base carrier consisting of the first metal and, at least a portion of the first major surface or at least a portion of each of the first and the second major surfaces comprises a polymeric region, said polymeric region comprising a polymer having a work to failure of at least 10 Joules. Provided is an abrasive article for lapping or polishing a workpiece comprising a three-dimensional, textured, flexible, fixed abrasive construction having a first surface and a working surface, the working surface comprising a plurality of precisely shaped abrasive composites, wherein the precisely shaped abrasive composite comprises a resin phase and a metal phase, wherein the metal phase further comprises superabrasive material. Also provided are a method of polishing or lapping a workpiece and a kit comprising a three-dimensional, textured, flexible, fixed abrasive construction and instructions for carrying out the method of polishing or lapping a workpiece.

Abrasive article and method of modifying the surface of a workpiece

Light-emitting articles and methods of manufacturing such articles are disclosed. In one aspect, a light emitting article includes an optical element having an input and an output aperture, each having a size. An LED die having a size is optically coupled to the optical element. The output aperture size of the optical element matches the LED die size. In another aspect, an array of light-emitting articles includes an array of optical elements having a lapped input aperture surface, and an array of LED dies optically coupled to the optical elements at the input aperture. In another aspect, an array of light-emitting articles includes an array of optical elements, and an array of LED dies, each LED die having a size. Each LED die is optically coupled to an optical element at the input aperture. The output aperture size of the optical element is matched to the LED die size.

Arrays of light emitting articles and method of manufacturing same

Provided is a method of polishing comprising providing a workpiece, providing a fixed abrasive article, providing conditioning particles, and relatively moving the workpiece and the fixed abrasive article in the presence of the conditioning particles to modify the surface of the workpiece and to condition the fixed abrasive. The fixed abrasive article comprises a substrate having a first surface and a region of abrasive composites distributed on the first surface of the substrate. The abrasive composites include a composite binder and abrasive particles, which may be in abrasive agglomerates together with a matrix material. The abrasive particles are harder than the workpiece. The conditioning particles are sufficient to condition one or more of the composite binder, matrix material, and abrasive agglomerates. The hardness of the conditioning particles is less than the hardness of the workpiece and they do not substantially polish the workpiece.

Abrasive agglomerate polishing method

Provided is a fixed abrasive article for polishing a workpiece having a hardness comprising (a) a substrate having a first surface and a second surface, (b) a region of abrasive composites distributed on the first surface of the substrate, and (c) a region of conditioning amalgams distributed on the first surface of the substrate. The abrasive composites include a composite binder and abrasive particles of a first hardness, which first hardness is higher than the hardness of the workpiece. The amalgams include an erodible binder and conditioning particles sufficient to condition the composite binder and having a second hardness, which second hardness is less than the hardness of the workpiece and greater than the hardness of the composite binder. Also provided are other abrasive articles, and methods of making them.

Self-contained conditioning abrasive article

A clean and easy-to-use, portable upright apparatus, and a method for its use, which can be used to flush and fill the radiator and coolant systems of motorized vehicles in approximately 15 minutes, the apparatus comprising a self-priming pump, a waste collection tank, a tank for holding new or recycled coolant, a filter assembly, and a wheeled support structure for conveniently and efficiently housing the pump, tanks, filter assembly, and the several hoses needed to perform the flush and fill procedure. Applications may include, but are not limited to, flushing coolant from automobile radiators and refilling them with new or recycled coolant.
