Provided herein are compositions useful for improving conditions in animal housing. In some embodiments, the compositions may include, in combination: a) an organic acid; b) an organic terpene; and optionally, c) a strong mineral acid. In some embodiments, the composition has a pH of from 2 to 5, or from 2.5 to 4, or from 3 to 3.5. Also provided are processes for the control of ammonia and microbes in animal housing, which may include applying a composition as taught herein to at least a portion of the house, e.g., to the bedding of the house, whereby said applying steps result in the control of ammonia and/or microbes in the animal housing.

Compositions for use in animal housing

A conformable coating for application to a soil substrate for barrier, adhesive, and planting properties includes a mixture of recycled or virgin materials, including organic fibrous material from wood based material and cotton based material, and gypsum bearing materials to which an effective amount of psyllium and its processes derivatives are added to form a solids mixture, which is diluted with an amount of water sufficient to provide a flowable consistency.

Conformable coating

An organic substrate is manufactured from recycled waste paper, cotton fiber and cotton gin waste, and gypsum. The recycled waste products are combined to form a slurry mixture for processing by conventional paper making machinery into a substrate that may be used in sheet form or comminuted pieces.

Method of making a slurry

A method of manufacturing a roadway luminaire is provided which includes the steps of molding a two part upper housing from a composite material and applying a reflective substance directly to an inner surface of a domed portion of the housing to create a reflector. The luminaire further includes a lower housing hingedly attached to the upper housing which supports a lens therein and is pivotable into an open position and latched to the upper housing in a closed position. Means are provided for mounting the luminaire to a pole.

Roadway luminaire

An organic substrate for controlling vegetation is manufactured from recycled waste paper, cotton fiber and cotton gin waste, and gypsum. The recycled waste products are combined to form a slurry mixture for processing by conventional paper making machinery into a substrate that may be used in sheet form or comminuted pieces to control weed growth in horticultural applications and serve as a carrier substrate for germinating seeds and growing select vegetation species.

Vegetation substrate

A method of producing an organic fertilizer from a highly absorbent animal bedding material manufactured from recycled waste paper, cotton fiber and cotton gin waste, and gypsum. The recycled waste products are combined to form a slurry mixture for processing by conventional paper making machinery into sheet material. Various chemical additives are admixed to the slurry mixture to control bacterial growth in the bedding material. The sheet material is further processed into sized particles to provide an animal bedding such as poultry litter. After the highly absorbent material is saturated with nutrient-rich animal excrement, it is subjected to chemical analysis and further processed to provide a biodegradable, organic fertilizer. The absorbent bedding material has alternative uses such as for collection of liquid chemical spills and for the remediation of such spills by biodegradation. The converted organic fertilizer can also be used as a ruminant feed after chemical analysis and the elimination of harmful microorganisms.
