A process for use in a phosphate ore beneficiation process to minimize the long-term environmental impact of the use of petroleum based hydrocarbon materials mixed with fatty acid based primary floatation reagents for froth flotation in the flotation of phosphate ores, wherein the process comprises substituting the petroleum based hydrocarbon materials with methyl and/or ethyl esters of fatty acids.

Phosphate beneficiation process using methyl or ethyl esters as float oils

A defoaming composition useful in high strength acid media includes an ester condensate of a C -C fatty acid and a at least one alcohol derivative selected from the group consisting of C -C alcohol ethoxylates having at least three ethoxylate residues per molecule, C -C alcohol propoxylates having at least three propoxylate residues per molecule and C -C alcohol mixed ethoxylate-propoxylates having at least three total ethoxylate and propoxylate residues per molecule. The condensate is preferably liquid at room temperature and miscible with water.
