A tamper-resistant three-phase padmounted transformer is provided including a tank having electrical connections mounted on one wall thereof, and a cabinet fixedly attached to the tank forming a cabinet-to-tank interface therebetween. An elongated P-shaped gasket is positioned at the interface so as to completely fill such interface, and a rib is secured to the cabinet for overlying the interface to form a tamper-resistant cabinet-to-tank interface which prevents the intrusion of extraneous objects into the interior of the cabinet.

Tamper resistant padmounted transformer

A method of constructing a top-loaded padmounted distribution transformer in which closing of the transformer tank by welding on a top cover is one of the final manufacturing operations. Weld damage to the painted surfaces, which occurs when the cover is welded to the tank, is confined to areas outside of the terminal cover which may be repaired by production line painting techniques, utilizing the terminal cover to 'mask' components on the terminal wall.

Method of constructing a padmounted distribution transformer

A padmounted transformer enclosure including a tank, terminal cover and sill which cooperatively define a composite structure having no pointed upper corners. The tank-terminal cover interface, and the terminal cover-sill interface, are both square, requiring no matching of curved surfaces.
