A one-part low modulus room temperature vulcamsable (RTV) silicone composition comprising a titanate and/or zirconate catalyst which cures to a low modulus silicone elastomer which has a good adhesion profile and may be used as a non-staining (clean) sealant having high movement capability which compositions contains an aminosilane adhesion promoter having two hydroxyl or hydrolysable groups per molecule in an amount of 0.1-3.75% by weight of the composition.

Sealant composition

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition includes (A) a bodied MQ resin containing (i) a resinous core and (ii) a nonresinous polyorganosiloxane group, where the nonresinous polyorganosiloxane group is terminated with a silicon-bonded hydroxyl group; (B) a treated MQ resin, where (B)/(A) ratio has a value of 0.3 to 5.0, and (C) a polydiorganosiloxane terminated with a condensation reactable group; where resin/polymer ratio has a value of 2.0 to 3.0; optionally (D) a crosslinker; optionally (E) a catalyst; and optionally (F) a solvent. A pressure sensitive adhesive product prepared by curing the pressure sensitive adhesive composition is useful in structural attachment applications such as structural glazing applications.

Pressure sensitive adhesives and methods for their preparation

A structural adhesive tape includes a closed cell silicone foam support and a structural adhesive composition on opposing sides of the closed cell silicone foam support. The structural adhesive composition may be a condensation reaction curable pressure sensitive adhesive composition. The structural adhesive tape is useful in structural glazing applications, such as curtain wall applications.

A moisture curable composition capable of cure to an elastomeric body, the composition comprising (a) an organopolysiloxane having not less than two silicon-bonded hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups; (b) a silane of the general formula G-Si&#x2014;R, wherein each group is reactable with the hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups in (a), and each Rgroup is an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group an aryl group or a fluorinated alkyl group; (c) one or more fillers and (d) a photocatalyst. Preferably at least one Rgroup is unsaturated, but in the absence of this there is provided an additional component in the form of (e) an unsaturated compound selected from the group of an unsaturated short chain siloxane, an unsaturated cyclic siloxane, an unsaturated fatty acid an unsaturated fatty alcohol or an unsaturated fatty acid ester. The cured product is generally used as a sealant, which avoids dirt pick-up after cure and has a protective layer on the sealant interface with air.

A room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone composition curable in the presence of moisture with rapid development of green strength. The RTV silicone composition comprises (A) 0 to about 85 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups and alkoxysilyl groups; (B) about 10 to 95 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups, alkoxysilyl groups, and multi-alkoxysilyl groups, provided that at least one chain termination per molecule comprises a multi-alkoxysilyl group; (C) an effective amount of a condensation catalyst; (D) 0 to about 40 weight percent of an alkoxysilane; and (E) 0 to about 60 weight percent of a filler; provided that the sum of the weight percents of Components (A) and (B) comprises about 20 to 95 weight percent based on the total weight of the RTV silicone composition.

A cyclic organosilicon compound comprising one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom described by formula ##STR1## where each R is an independently selected hydrocarbon radical free from aliphatic unsaturation comprising 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; each X is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, and ketoximo; m is an integer from 2 to 7; p is an integer from 0 to 6; m+p is an integer from 2 to 8; n is 0, 1, or 2; and each Z is independently selected from the group consisting of divalent hydrocarbon radicals free of aliphatic unsaturation comprising about 2 to 18 carbon atoms and a combination of divalent hydrocarbon radicals and siloxane segments. The cyclic organosilicon compounds comprising one silicon-bonded hydrogen atom of the present invention are useful as endcappers for polymers.

A polyorganosiloxane comprising at least one organofunctional group per molecule having multiple hydrolyzable groups. The organofunctional group is described by formula --Z.sub.b --R.sup.4 (Z--SiR.sup.2.sub.n X.sub.3-n).sub.a, where each R.sup.2 is an independently selected monovalent hydrocarbon radical comprising 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; each Z is independently selected from the group consisting of divalent hydrocarbon radicals comprising about 2 to 18 carbon atoms and a combination of divalent hydrocarbon radicals and siloxane segments; R.sup.4 is independently selected from the group consisting of a silicon atom and a siloxane radical comprising at least two silicon atoms and each Z is bonded to a silicon atom of R.sup.4 with the remaining valences of the silicon atoms of R.sup.4 being bonded to a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon radical comprising 1 to about 18 carbon atoms, or forming siloxane bonds; each X is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, and ketoximo; n is 0, 1, or 2; a is at least 2; and b is 0 or 1, provided, when b is 0, R.sup.4 is bonded to the polyorganosiloxane through a siloxane bond.

The organosilicon compounds comprising one aliphatic unsaturation of the present invention are useful as endcappers for polymers.

Alkoxy-functional room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) compositions, curable in the presence of moisture, comprising polymers containing on average at least 1.2 alkoxysilyl chain terminations per molecule, a tetraalkoxytitanium compound containing on average greater than 90 mole percent of the alkoxy groups as tertiary amyloxy groups, a filler, and an alkoxysilane. The addition of these components in amounts to satisfy defined molar ratios provide alkoxy-functional RTV compositions having both improved storage stability and improved green strength upon curing.
