A card edge connector includes a housing (10) having a slot (12) for receiving an edge portion of a circuit card (6). A card guide (30) includes first and second walls (31, 32) arrayed on respective opposite sides of an elongation axis of the slot (12). A space (34) between the walls is greater than a thickness of the circuit card. The first wall (31) has a projection (36) extending into the space and arranged to reside above a ledge (2) of the circuit card when the card is disposed in the slot. A gap (38) between a tip of the projection (36) and the second wall (32) has a dimension at least as great as the thickness of the circuit card. The circuit card is insertable into the connector with a portion of the circuit card passing through the gap (38) until the ledge (2) is relatively below the projection (36). The ledge (2) is displaceable to a position beneath the projection (36 ) upon lateral movement of the circuit card, and a clearance exists between the circuit card and the second wall (32) when the circuit card is disposed in the slot and the projection resides above the ledge. A shim member (40) is insertable in the clearance and dimensioned to restrict lateral movement of the circuit card sufficiently to prevent displacement of the ledge beyond the tip of the projection, whereby the circuit card is locked in the connector.

A socket comprising a housing (10) defines an upwardly open slot (12) for receiving an edge portion of a circuit card (6). A plurality of contacts (16) extend into the slot for electrically engaging respective contact pads on the circuit card, and leads (17) of the contacts extend to an exterior of the housing for electrically engaging respective circuit traces on a substrate. A resilient beam (20) connected to the housing has a free end (24) which is normally disposed outwardly of a plane of the circuit card which is received in the slot. The free end has a projection (26) which is dimensioned for reception in an aperture (2) in the circuit card and is aligned with the aperture when the circuit card is disposed in the socket. A lock lever (50) is movable on the housing between lock and unlock positions. The lock lever has a lock arm (60) which resiliently deflects the beam when the lock lever is in the lock position, whereby the projection is moved inwardly through the plane of the circuit card and into the aperture to lock the circuit card in the socket.

A dual readout SIMM socket includes a dielectric housing having a module receiving slot, terminal slots transverse and open to the module receiving slot, and terminals positioned in the terminal slots. An electrically conductive ground plane extends along a length of the housing. The ground plane has leads for establishing electrical contact with circuits on a substrate. A plurality of signal and ground terminals are arranged in a selected sequence in the terminal slots. Each of the signal and ground terminals has a trace engaging contact point extending into the module receiving slot for establishing electrical contact with respective signal and ground traces on a SIMM panel received therein. Each of the ground terminals has a contact member for establishing electrical contact with the ground plane. Each of the signal terminals has a lead for establishing electrical contact with other circuits on the substrate.

Dual read-out SIMM socket for high electrical speed applications

An auxiliary socket (1) comprising, a housing (2) having multiple electrical terminals (3) in terminal receiving slots (4), the terminals (3) being relatively widely spaced apart, and a panel receiving slot (5) adapted for receiving circuit traces that are intolerant of relatively dense spacing with other circuit traces.

An ejector (24) for use in a socket (10) having two parallel slots (12, 14) for receiving modules therein. The ejector (24) includes a cam (28) having lobes (38,40) at each end and a handle (26) for rotating the cam (28) and thereby lifting one or another lobe (38,40) to raise an end of a module out of one or another slot (12,14).

Dual row simm socket ejector

A dual readout SIMM socket (10) has been disclosed. The socket (10) includes a housing (12) having panel receiving slots (14), terminal slots (16) transverse and open to panel slots (16) and terminals (13) positioned in the terminal slots (16). The terminals (13) include an S-shaped spring section extending outwardly from one edge (50) of a base section (44) with a depending arm (68) extending into the panel slot (16) for electrical engagement with traces on a circuit panel.

Dual readout SIMM socket

A socket suitable for use with single in-line memory modules comprises a plurality of terminals positioned within a insulative housing for engaging a module circuit panel inserted into the housing. Extraction members are provided for pivoting the individual circuit panels out of engagement with the socket terminals and out of the slot into which the circuit panel can be inserted. The extraction members are insertable into upright support members on the ends of the housing and are shiftable in a straight line motion between the first and second position. A projection at the lower edge of the extraction member extends below the circuit panel and a handle at the upper end of the extraction member is accessible on the end of the socket housing.

An electrical socket for substrates and particularly ceramic substrates. More particularly, the socket includes a U-shaped receptacle and a mounting section for attaching the receptacle to the substrate. The mounting section is attached to one leg of the receptacle and includes a solder foot for being soldered to a circuit pad on the substrate.

A printed circuit board mountable switch includes a insulative body having a plurality of leads extending out of the body, the leads being formed into two parallel and opposed rows with fixed ends of the leads being spaced apart and facing each other on the floor of the body. A slide switch element includes a bow shaped element having first and second contact elements adjacent to respective first and second fixed ends of the leads. The switch element is moveable between a first position where the switch element bridges between the associated first and second lead fixed ends, to a position where the second contact portion only, is in contact with the second fixed end of the lead. A cover is inserted over the housing which encloses the assembly. The cover includes a lip which extends downwardly into a peripheral channel of the housing. The cover and housing are ultrasonically welded together and the tip of the cover melts and flows within the channel but is prevented from flowing into the switch housing.

Switch for integrated circuit package

A single in-line memory module socket employing edge stamped contacts positioned within an insulative housing is disclosed. Each terminal has opposed beams with a loop section intermediate the ends of upwardly extending portions of those beams. Inwardly inclined arms extend downwardly from the top of the opposed beams and the contacts are configured so that majority of the deflection of the beams occurs in these inwardly inclined arms. A central post extends upwardly from the base of the terminals and engages housing ribs located within a central spine located along the bottom of a panel receiving slot in the insulative housing. Cavities intersect the slots receiving the circuit panels and the terminals can be inserted into the respective cavities from the bottom, with the posts extending upwardly from the base securing the terminals by engagement with the central spine. Panel support guides extend upwardly at either end of the housing and ridges on flexible walls in the housing stabilize the modules in the sockets.

A printed circuit board slide switch in which switch actuation occurs by movement of a slide actuator perpendicular to the printed circuit board on which the switch is mounted is disclosed. Terminals having leads in a zig-zag configuration are inserted molded into an insulative body which has a plurality of individual compartments in which side-by-side contact portions of adjacent terminals comprising switched terminal pairs are located.

Sealed printed circuit board switch

A socket suitable for electrically connecting circuit panels such as single inline memory modules (SIMM) employs a plurality of contacts positioned within cavities in an insulative housing. This socket permits zero force or low force insertion of circuit panels into the socket and is of the type in which the circuit panel is rotated from a first position to a second position where deflection is imparted to the two contact springs. The contact terminals used with this socket are insertable into an insulative housing through the rear of the housing. A cantilever spring extending from the rear of the contact terminal is located on one side of a panel receiving slot and a curved spring is located on the other side of the panel receiving slot. Cantilever arms having terminal securing teeth at their ends engage the insulative housing and one cantilever arm extends between the cantilever spring and the curved spring and engages a central rib located within each cavity and comprising the lower surface of the panel receiving slot.

Low insertion force circuit panel socket

A burn-in socket adapted for use with plastic quad flat pack packages having gullwing leads is disclosed. The socket comprises an insulative housing base and a reciprocal cap frame located on top of the insulative housing. A plurality of resilient contact terminals are positioned along the sides of the insulative housing around the periphery of a cavity for receiving the PQFP package. Each contact terminal is inwardly deflectable upon movement of the cap so that gullwing leads of the PQFP package will be received between the contact terminal and an inwardly facing ledge. The socket is suitable for use with automatic loading equipment.

Burn-in socket for integrated circuit device

An integrated circuit package socket includes an insulating housing having a plurality of side by side terminals profiled for receipt of a square package with leads extending therefrom. The socket also includes a camming member disposed above the housing which has a camming surface which contacts a portion of each of the terminals to move the terminals into and out of electrical engagement with the leads of the package. The camming member multiplies the force applied directly to the camming member to cause the desired rotation. Relaxation of the camming member causes a reverse rotation of the contacts into electrical engagement with the package leads.

Burn-in socket for gull wing integrated circuit package

Four embodiments of a burn-in socket for gull wing configured semiconductor packages are disclosed where each of the embodiments includes latching means which a mechanical advantage assisting in the installation of the carrier and package. Two of the embodiments include four centered posts which include helical ramparts which contact directly on the upper surface of the carrier. A third embodiment is disclosed which includes a lid which rotates over the upper face of the carrier, where the cover includes a post having a helical rampart where the helical rampart contacts a shoulder of the socket which lowers the cover. The fourth embodiment discloses two overlapping doors where the outer door contacts the inner door thereby closing the inner door moving the carrier downward.
