A motion-transmitting assembly has a cable movable within a tubular sheath anchored on a panel. The panel has a keyhole-shaped aperture therein including a relatively large access opening portion which communicates with a relatively narrower slot portion. An anchor mounted on the sheath has a base wall adapted to engage against the face of the panel and a foot suspended from the base wall by a shank. The foot is smaller than the access opening portion of the aperture to permit insertion of the foot through the access opening portion. The shank is smaller than the slot portion to permit sliding movement of the anchor along the keyhole-shaped aperture so that the foot becomes engaged with the underface of the panel. The anchor also has an integral spring finger projecting from the base wall in a direction parallel with the direction of the sliding movement of the anchor. The spring finger is self-biased to be snapped into the access opening to engage with the panel and block retrograde sliding movement of the anchor within the aperture toward the access opening to thereby anchor the sheath on the panel.

Anchorage for motion-transmitting cable assembly

A motion-transmitting assembly has a cable movable within a tubular sheath anchored on a panel. A movable member, such as a lever, is movably mounted on the support and has an aperture which receives a retainer clip. The retainer clip has a cylindrical body installed into the aperture of the member and having a bore extending through the cylindrical body with yieldable fingers projecting into the bore. A cable fitting has a barrel with a bore slidably receiving the cable. A stud projects laterally from the barrel and has a circumferential groove so that upon insertion of the stud into the bore of the retainer clip, the yieldable fingers of the retainer clip engage with the circumferential groove of the cable fitting to thereby connect the cable fitting with the movable member. A ferrule is carried by the cable to engage with the barrel of the cable fitting and establish a driving connection therebetween in one direction of relative movement, while the cable is able to slide through the cable fitting and permit independent movement between the cable and the movable member in the other direction of movement. The retainer clip also has a swing-over arm extending from the cylindrical body and having a snap-fit receptacle thereon which clips onto the barrel of the cable fitting to further assure retention of the stud of the cable fitting within the cylindrical bore of the retainer clip. A stop arm is provided on the swing-over arm of the retainer clip and engages with the movable member to define a rest position of the retainer clip in readiness for insertion of the stud into the bore of the retainer clip.

Cable-to-lever connection for motion-transmitting mechanism

A window regulator system is provided for translating a window. The regulator includes at least one channel extending vertically in the door cavity for guiding the window; a blade connected to the channel and extending parallel to the major axis of the door cavity; a guide block fixed to the window and having a transverse alignment bearing with two generally noncompliant bearing lobes juxtaposed by the blade for aligning the window in a direction transverse to the major axis of the door cavity; and a spring button connected to the guide block and being of a generally hard polymeric material having a generally conical shape with an apex contacting the blade and a base compressed against the guide block for removing transverse compliance of the window within the alignment bearing.

Hard-top vehicle window regulator system

An automotive vehicle extendable window glass stabilizer for laterally stabilizing a window glass with a body of an automotive vehicle is provided including a support generally extending from the automotive body laterally toward the window glass, a fabric mat mounted on a support extending toward the window glass, and a plastic button surrounded by the fabric mat. The button has a head providing a bottoming-out contact surface for the window glass when the glass more fully compresses the fabric mat.

A modular window regulator system is provided for controlling the movement of a window which includes first and second cross arms pivotally joined to one another, each cross arm having first and second ends, the first cross arm first end being geared; a back plate mounting a driver gear for torsional engagement with the geared end of the first cross arm, the back plate mounting the first end of the second cross arm for linear movement; first and second channels extending generally vertically and transverse to the back plate and fixably joined thereto at opposite ends of the back plate; a sash slidably mounting the second end of the cross arms, the sash having first and second ends extending toward the first and second channels, respectively; a first guide block fixably connected to the sash first end and to the window, the first guide block having a vertical bearing connection with the first channel; a second guide block fixably connected to the sash second end and to the window, the second guide block having a vertical bearing connection with the second channel; and a fore/aft bearing on one of the guide blocks engaged with one of the channels, the fore/aft bearing being at a different elevation than the second ends of the cross arm, the second ends of the cross arm within the sash and the fore/aft bearing providing three point stability for moment force on the window in a plane of the window.

A holding device for attaching, in a preferred embodiment, a window regulator channel blade to a vehicle door, the blade being subject to adjustment along three axes before final attachment to the door, the holding device including a nut having a fixed axis with respect to the door; a slider slidably engaged with the nut being adjustable with the nut along a first axis, the slider having an ear and an elbow spaced therefrom; a polymeric insert providing a nest for compliantly holding the blade, allowing adjustment of the blade with respect to the slider along two axes of adjustment and the insert having a guide surface for urging the blade into the nest; and a bolt for threadably penetrating the nut wherein torquing of the nut causes the nut and the slider to be affixed with respect to the door.

Holding device

An arrangement for a door is provided including, in a preferred embodiment, a door body with a top opening; a window pane within the door extendable through the top opening, the window having a bore along its lower end; a channel member extending within the door body for guiding the window; a guide block slidably mounted on the channel having a bore in alignment with the bore in the window, the guide block having a contact surface and a projecting ledge with an alignment aperture; an insulator having an inner member joined to an outer member by a bottom wall, the inner member, bottom wall and outer member generally forming a U-shaped opening for receipt of the window, the inner and outer insulator members having a bore generally aligned with the window bore, the inner member having a cylindrical portion for extending through the window bore and the cylindrical portion having a snap fit connection with the outer member, thereby retaining the insulator to the window, the insulator further along its bottom wall having a tab for alignment in the aperture of the guide block; a retainer plate having a first surface joined to a cylindrical projection for protruding within the cylindrical portion of the insulator, the retainer plate cylindrical portion having a threaded interior; a snap-in finger projecting through an aperture in the retainer plate to join the retainer plate with the insulator; and a fastener joining the guide block with the insulator, window pane and retainer plate.
