A medical device includes a link, a first tool member, a second tool member and a third tool member, which each have a proximal end portion movably coupled to the link and a distal end portion. The distal end portion of the first tool member can engage a first object and be associated with a first medical function, the distal end portion of the second tool member can engage a second object and be associated with a second medical function, and the distal end portion of the third tool member can engage the first object or the second object and be associated with the first and/or second medical function. Each of the first, second and third tool members can move relative to the link independent of movement of the each of the other tool members.

A medical device includes a clevis, a first jaw, and a second jaw. The first jaw includes a first proximal gripping portion and a first distal gripping portion, and the first proximal gripping portion includes a first needle alignment portion. The second jaw is coupled to the clevis and includes a second proximal gripping portion and a second distal gripping portion, and the second proximal gripping portion includes a second needle alignment portion. The first and second needle alignment portions are located opposite each other when in the closed orientation. The first and second needle alignment portions define a clamp path when in the closed orientation within which the curved portion of the needle is received when the second jaw is in the open orientation. The first and second needle alignment portions are configured to rotate the needle when moving to the closed orientation.

The method further includes converting inflation of the bladders to motion of an input drive member of the surgical instrument; converting the motion of the input drive member to motion of an actuation element of the surgical instrument; converting the motion of the actuation element to motion of a distal component of the surgical instrument; and irrigating the surgical instrument with the flow of irrigation fluid.

A method of reprocessing a surgical instrument includes converting force associated with a flow of fluid used during reprocessing of a surgical instrument to a drive force to drive an input drive member of a transmission mechanism of the instrument.

An accessory drive device includes a housing, a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, a drive mechanism, and an output drive member. Polymeric stents having fracture toughness and resistance to recoil after deployment are disclosed along with methods of manufacturing such stents. Improvements to mechanical characteristics and other improvements may be achieved by having polymer chains within individual stent struts oriented in a direction that is closer to or in line with the axis of the individual stent struts. The struts are connected to each other by hinge elements that are configured to bend during crimping and deployment of the stent. Ring struts form ring structures. A ring structure can have an overall curvilinear length from about 12 mm to about 15 mm.

An expandable stent for implantation in a body lumen, such as an artery, is disclosed. The stent consists of a plurality of radially expandable cylindrical rings generally aligned on a common longitudinal stent axis and interconnected by one or more interconnecting links placed so that the stent is flexible in the longitudinal direction. The link pattern is optimized to reduce strain on the links and enhance longitudinal flexibility and security of the stent. The stent includes a distal end ring and a proximal end ring that have a length that is shorter than the length of the body rings.

The diameter of the formed tube is less than a target diameter and the tube is radially deformed so that it comprises the target diameter. Forming the stent includes laser machining a stent pattern in the deformed tube at the target diameter with an ultra-short pulse laser.
