An aircraft propulsor that includes an exhaust combustor is disclosed. The aircraft propulsor can include an internal combustion engine and a turbocharger. The turbocharger can be spooled while motoring the internal combustion engine. For example, when restarting the internal combustion engine at high altitude, an injector and an igniter can provide fuel to the exhaust and combust fuel to spool the turbocharger, decreasing load on the engine during restarting. In another example, an electric turbocharger can be driven with an electric motor to spool the turbocharger.

Systems and methods for determining when a fluid supply container of a blood processing apparatus becomes empty. The system uses a scale to monitor and detect when a fluid supply container is empty based on the rate of change of the container weight, and a controller receives a signal from the scale and controls the operation of a pump to stop pumping when the fluid supply container is empty.

Systems, methods, and computer readable media are provided for product options calculation with respect to an apheresis instrument. An example product options calculator system for an apheresis instrument includes a preset information module including preset information regarding blood component products and configuration information. The system also includes a donor specific input module receiving donor specific information about a blood donor from a user. The system further includes a blood product options calculator calculating available blood component collection procedure options and associated settings within the constraints of the preset information and the donor specific information from which a user can choose to configure the apheresis instrument. Additionally, the system includes a display for displaying available component collection options to the user with respect to the apheresis instrument. The system also includes an interface accepting user input.

Systems and methods for controlling fluid flow during a fluid exchange procedure. In one aspect, a system is provided for controlling a net fluid volume difference of a patient during and/or after a fluid exchange procedure. The system comprises a first flow path for flowing at least a first fluid from the patient and a second flow path for flowing at least a second fluid to the patient. First and second reservoirs are respectively associated with the first and second flow paths. A controller is associated with the first and second flow paths for controlling first and second flow rates and operable to determine an actual flow rate for each first and second fluid and to change a first or second flow rate in response to a difference between at least one of such flow rates and its respective actual flow rate.
