A method of making drainable ostomy pouch outlet includes the steps of attaching a single-piece closure device on a downwardly extending outlet portion of the pouch and trimming side peripheries of the single-piece closure device to provide at least two separate closure members. The single-piece closure device may include at least one transversely-extending cut-line and/or at least one cut-out portions, which may be arranged to form at least two separate closure members on the outlet portion after the step of trimming.

A drainable ostomy pouch outlet includes a single-piece closure member including at least one transversely-extending fold-line. The at least one transversely-extending fold-lines are configured to facilitate folding up and closing of the outlet. The single-piece closure member may also include at least one axially-extending or slanted fold-lines intersecting the at least one transversely-extending fold-line, configured to facilitate opening of the outlet.

Drainable ostomy pouch

A drainable ostomy pouch includes a closure system, which includes four closure members and a two-part fastening system. The closure system is arranged on a neck portion of the drainable pouch, and configured such that the pouch can be securely sealed after the neck portion is folded up three times and closed using the two-part fastening system.

A one-piece ostomy appliance adapted to be removably attached to a patient for receiving discharge from a stoma of the patient includes a pouch that defines a cavity. A first opening is defined by the pouch for receiving a stoma and communicating discharge from the stoma into the cavity. The ostomy appliance also includes a face plate having a first side secured to the pouch and a second opposing side that includes an adhesive for securing the pouch to a patient. A second opening is defined by the face plate and is generally aligned with the first opening. Further, the ostomy appliance includes one or more tabs for coupling a belt thereto, wherein the one or more tabs are coupled directly to the face plate.

A drainable ostomy pouch is disclosed having generally parallel sidewalls of flexible sheet material joined along their edges to define a chamber therebetween and having a downwardly extending neck portion terminating in a discharge opening for draining the contents from the chamber. The neck portion of the pouch has first and second transversely extending curved spring members associated therewith and is closed by folding the neck portion upwardly. The first curved spring member is located nearer the discharge opening than the second curved spring member and each of the curved spring members is curved smoothly and outwardly relative to the neck portion. The curved spring members are located relative to one another so the first curved spring member nearer the discharge opening nests with the second curved spring member when the neck portion has been folded upwardly and can be secured using a two-part fastening system during use of the drainable ostomy pouch.

A drainable ostomy pouch having sidewalls of flexible sheet material defining a cavity therebetween and a downwardly-extending neck portion terminating in a discharge opening that is closed by folding the neck portion upwardly and opened by unfolding the neck portion downwardly. Each of the sidewalls of the neck portion is provided with a transversely-extending bias member that is formed of stiff but flexible, springlike plastic material. The bias members are normally flat so as to be in straight parallel closed condition but are openable under inwardly-directed finger pressure applied to their opposite ends to cause them to bow outwardly away from each other. The pouch also includes a two-part fastening system for holding the neck portion in upwardly-folded condition, the system including a first fastener part located along the outer surface of one of the sidewalls of the neck portion and a second fastener part located along the outer surface of the other sidewall of the neck portion, the fastener parts having outwardly-projecting interengageable locking elements that are brought into interlocking engagement when the neck portion is fully folded.
