The present technology is generally directed to methods for addressing a patient's sleep apnea. At least some of the methods can include one or more of percutaneously inserting an implantable signal delivery device at an insertion point on the patient's neck, moving the signal delivery device in a medial-to-lateral direction toward an ansa cervicalis nerve of the patient, and implanting the signal delivery device at a target location at least proximate to the ansa cervicalis nerve. The signal delivery device can include at least one electrode positioned to deliver a modulation signal to tissue at least proximate to the target location, such as a portion of the ansa cervicalis nerve. In some embodiments, delivery of the modulation signal can induce caudal traction in the patient and thereby address the patient's sleep apnea.

Methods for positioning signal delivery devices to treat sleep apnea, and associated devices and treatments

Generally discussed herein are systems, devices, and methods for providing a therapy (e.g., stimulation) and/or data signal using an implantable device. Systems, devices and methods for interacting with (e.g., communicating with, receiving power from) an external device are also provided.

Midfield transmitter systems

Implantable electrodes with power delivery wearable for treating sleep apnea, and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A representative system includes non-implantable signal generator worn by the patient and having an antenna that directs a mid-field RF power signal to an implanted electrode. The implanted electrode in turn directs a lower frequency signal to a neural target, for example, the patient's hypoglossal nerve. Representative signal generators can have the form of a mouthpiece, a collar or other wearable, and/or a skin-mounted patch.

Implantable electrodes with remote power delivery for treating sleep apnea, and associated systems and methods

Systems, devices, and methods discussed herein can be for validating a position of a wirelessly powered electrostimulation device while the device is implanted in body tissue. A method can include situating the electrostimulation device in tissue and before an affixation mechanism of the electrostimulation device is deployed to maintain an implanted position of the electrostimulation device, and while electrodes of the device are in contact with the tissue, performing electrical testing of the electrostimulation device to determine whether the electrostimulation from the electrostimulation device evokes a specified response from the body that contains the tissue.

Wireless implantable device position validation in situ

The present technology is generally directed to systems and methods for addressing a patient's sleep apnea. At least some embodiments include an electrode array and a controller. The electrode array can include one or more electrodes and can be configured to be implanted at least proximate to a target tissue of the patient in an orientation, with at least a vector component of the orientation aligned along an inferior-superior axis of the patient. The controller can be communicatively coupled to the electrode array and include one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media having instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of the controller, cause the controller to direct an electrical signal to be delivered by the electrode array to the target tissue.

Generally discussed herein are systems, devices, and methods for providing a therapy or data signal using an implantable device. A method of providing intermittent stimulation by a stimulation system can include providing, by an external device of the stimulation system, radio frequency first signals to an implantable device of the stimulation system, the implantable device including an electrode and the first signals causing the implantable device to provide electrical stimulation through the electrode for a first time duration, determining, at the external device, that the implantable device is out of range of a transmission from the external device, determining, at the external device, that the implantable device is within range of the transmission from the external device, and providing, by an external device of the stimulation system, radio frequency second signals to the implantable device of the stimulation system, the second signals causing the implantable device to provide electrical stimulation through the electrode for a third time duration.

Midfield transmitter and receiver systems

Provided herein are implantable systems, and methods for use therewith, for monitoring a patient's arterial blood pressure while a patient's heart is being paced. A signal (e.g., PPG or IPG signal) indicative of changes in arterial blood volume remote from the patient's heart is obtained using a sensor or electrodes that are implanted remote from the patient's heart. One or more metrics indicative of pulse arrival time (PAT) are determined, where each metric can be determined by determining a time from a paced cardiac event to one or more predetermined features of the signal indicative of changes in arterial blood volume. Based on at the metric(s) indicative of PAT, arterial blood pressure is estimated, which can include determining values indicative of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse pressure and/or mean arterial blood pressure, and/or changes in such values.
