An approach is provided for rendering content based on chunks and layers. A request is received to render content at a device. One or more layers of the content are determined. One or more patterns are determined corresponding to one or more of the layers. One or more chunks are determined based, at least in part, on the one or more patterns. At least one of the layers and corresponding one or more chunks are determined to be rendered separately from the other layers.

Method and apparatus for rendering content

A mobile device or MS having voice user interface (UI) as part of its multimodal input/output capabilities is provided with a storage area for storing a profile indicating the voice UI capabilities. The profile indicates the automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, vocabulary and grammar capabilities, amongst others. An application, such as a diary program or one allowing entry into a lotto, is initialized on the MS with reference to the profile. When the application is run, the profile is referred to such that parts of the application which are appropriate to the profile are run whilst those which are inappropriate to the profile are not run. Alternatively, the application may be run on a voice UI application server forming part of a base station. An emulator for testing an application using a profile of a target device is also disclosed.

The present invention proposes a method for transmitting data in a communication network, said communication network comprising at least one call control entity (CSCF) for controlling calls to be established from a subscriber (A, B) to a communication destination (B, A), a service control entity (SCP) for controlling services provisioned in said network for a respective subscriber, and a detection entity (DP) adapted to detect at least one of a plurality of predetermined conditions occurring in said network; said method comprising the steps of: forwarding a signaling message from said subscriber (A) to said at least one call control entity (CSCF) for being further forwarded to said destination (B), said signaling message comprising a message header and a message body, said message header including information descriptive for a content carried in the message body, detecting the occurrence of said at least one predetermined condition, and in case the occurrence of said predetermined condition has been detected, sending information concerning the content carried in the message body of said signaling message to said service control entity (SCP). Also, the present invention proposes a communication system comprising a call control entity (CSCF) controlling calls to be established from a subscriber (A, B) to a communication destination (B, A), a service control entity (SCP) controlling services provisioned in a network for a respective subscriber, wherein said system is adapted to operate according to the above method, and also a call control entity and a service control entity as such.

Method for transmitting data in a communication network

The present invention relates to a telecommunications system, comprising a network element providing answering service for subscribers, and at least one subscriber terminal comprising a memory for storing parameters associated with selectable profiles, said parameters controlling the functions of the subscriber terminal, and a user interface providing the possibility to select for use one of said selectable profiles with the associated parameters. In order to achieve an improved user friendliness said parameters stored in the memory of the subscriber terminal include message parameters which identify messages that are associated with the respective profiles. A profile selection carried out with the user interface triggers the transmitter to transmit an activation message to the network element. The network element responsive to said activation message for activating the message or messages indicated by the activation message, such that the activated message or messages can be transmitted from the memory means to a calling subscriber under predetermined conditions.

The present invention relates to an authentication method and system for identifying a subscriber () of a first network an address of the second network () is allocated to the subscriber (). An information about a mapping between the address of the second network () and a subscriber identity is generated and transmitted to the second network (). Thereby, an authentication server connection is provided between the first network () and the second network (), such that the subscriber identity can be handled over to the second network (). A system for managing physiological information includes a mobile terminal and at least one destination. The terminal is capable of transferring physiological information relating to a terminal user. The destination(s), in turn, are capable of receiving the physiological information and performing at least one operation based upon the physiological information. The destinations can return content to the terminal, where the content is selected based upon the operation(s) performed by the destination(s). Upon receiving the content, then, the terminal is also capable of performing at least one operation based upon the content. The system can also include a mobile station for facilitating the transfer of physiological information and content between the terminal and the destination(s).

System, method and computer program product for managing physiological information relating to a terminal user

A system and method for providing an interactive, multi-modal interface used to generate a route drawing. A mobile terminal display initially displays map data indicative of a user's region of interest. Through a series of audible, visual, and tactile excitations, the user interacts with the route drawing system to generate a desired route to be superimposed upon the user's region of interest. User preferences are used by the system to intelligently aid the user in selection of each segment of the route to be drawn. An analysis of each segment, as well as an analysis of the final route, is performed so that the attributes of the route, along with the graphical representation of the route itself, may be stored either locally within the mobile terminal or remotely within a map server.

System and method for an intelligent multi-modal user interface for route drawing

The present invention relates to a telecommunications system comprising a network element (') providing answering service for subscribers, and at least one subscriber terminal (&#x2033;) comprising a memory (M&#x2032;) for storing parameters associated with selectable profiles, said parameters controlling the functions of the subscriber terminal, and a user interface () providing the possibility to select for use one of said selectable profiles with the associated parameters. The present invention relates to a method for providing delivery confirmation of message deliveries made in a telephone network. In a network of the present invention, subscriber-specific information is maintained to determine whether a subscriber has a message delivery service available that allows delivery of subscriber-specific messages. Upon delivery of confirmation of the availability of a subscriber message delivery service, a confirmation addressed to a subscriber is routed to the message delivery service on the basis of the subscriber-specific information. This and other aspects of the method of the present invention reduce extra network traffic that cannot be charged, and reduces the complications associated with other telephone network systems that require information to be provided by pushbutton dial to the system.
