The invention relates to a method for disabling a discontinuous transmission node DTX of a speech encoder if a music signal is detected in a call input signal. The music signal is detected by determining an activity factor corresponding to the relation of sound signal periods relative to scheme signal periods. If the activity factor is higher than a specified activity factor, the DTX is disabled.

Switching off DTX for music

A method in a communication network having separate call control and bearer control for interfacing the network with a further network that utilizes monolithic signaling. The method increases the flexibility of an existing payload connection, especially in the case of a malfunction. Enhancements to existing signaling protocols are utilized to transfer further information. Information elements and methods for interpreting the transferred information are stored in the senders and receivers of the information, enabling more information to be transferred. A combination of a payload transmission device and a control node may be identified separately or as a single device. Additionally, a connection assignment may be identified as a further assignment, enabling the change of a current assignment for a radio access controller.

Method for increasing the flexibility of a communication network with separated call control and bearer control

In a method for the set-up of a connection in a communication network, the set-up is initiated with an initial message () from an originating control node (ON) to a terminating control node (TN) of the connection and the establishment of a bearer for the connection is initiated according to a reply to the initial message (). A control timer (CT) is started according to the initial message () and an expiry of the control timer (CT) before an indication of the bearer establishment triggers a release for the connection. In the method, after receiving the initial message (12) at the terminating control node (TN), a paging () a user equipment (UE') for the connection and starting a first timer (FT) according to the paging () initiation is performed, the expiry value of the first timer (FT) being set lower than the expiry value of the control timer (CT). The bearer establishment for the connection is initiated upon expiry of the first timer (FT) and the control timer (CT) is stopped upon reception of an indication of the bearer establishment. Devices and software programs embodying the invention are also described.

Method and node for the set-up of a connection in a telecommunication network

A system and method that enables a more flexible architecture in communication networks with separated call control and bearer control. The invention enables full support of the advantages of a communication network with separated call control and bearer control when interfacing with a further network with monolithic signalling. The invention also increases the flexibility of an existing payload connection, especially in the case of a malfunction. The invention uses the existing signalling protocols to transfer further information. Basically, information elements and methods to interpret the transferred information are stored in the receivers and senders of the information. This enables the receivers and senders of information to transmit more information than originally planned when the protocols where designed. So it is possible to identify a combination of a payload transmission device and a control node instead of a single device only. It is further possible, to identify an assignment as a further assignment. This allows the change of a current assignment for a radio access controller.
